Attainment Lesson Plan

Teaching Objective: Students will learn a wide variety of math skills such
as; counting, patterns, measurement, and addition. Students will become
familiar with a number line, calendar, ruler, and manipulatives.

DOK Level 1: Answer questions, What is this called (e.g. when holding up a
number line)? What is this tool used for?
Common Core Standards: Operations & Algebraic Thinking
Understand adding as adding to, and understand subtraction as taking from.
1. Demonstrate an understanding of addition and subtraction by using
objects, fingers, and responding to practical situations (e.g., If we
have 3 apples and add two more, how many apples do we have all
together?)
Understand simple patterns
2. Duplicate and extend (e.g.,What comes next?) simple patterns
using concrete objects.

Motivation: Ad the beginning of the lesson, students will choose a

reinforcing item to work for and place it on their token boards. Students
obtain access to their chosen reinforcer throughout the lesson.
Materials: Token boards, tokens, Math Story book, manipulatives for the
lesson
Procedure:
Students will be broken up into groups of 2 ( Isen & Steven) ( Bruce &
Jaif ) (Adam & Dario )
Students will be given a warm up activity using a number line
Students will listen to the story read to them
Students point to pictures in the story
Students will count out money
Students will construct an ABA pattern

Students will add cars

Students will use a calendar to count out days
Students will complete worksheets based off the lesson

Follow Up: Students will move onto lesson 2 of the Attainment program.
Assessment: Teacher observation and feedback will be given to students
during lesson and activity. Student data will consist of level of cooperation
with and participation in the activity and will be based on teacher
observation. The lesson may be adapted and will be repeated throughout the
year. Data will be taken and graphed.
