Organization structures
The hybrid structure is an organization that puts together all the value systems and action
logics of several societies like the private, public and voluntary sectors. The hybrid structure
used in organizations with environmental uncertainties is achievable through the divisional
structure and functional expertise (Kinston, 1983).
Functional structure involves where employees are grouped according to their roles,
managed through clear definitions of authority and subject to one top person. It allows
centralization of decisions because issues are delegated to specialized units and letting them
implement, evaluate or control the goals.
Parallel structure is that which actively solicits employees input. In this structure, a subset
of workers can act to develop solutions to particular problems without changing the overall
fabric of an organization.
Matrix structure is a structure generated from functional and divisional structures. Its
application is majorly in large companies as it allows the benefits of the two structures to coexist
in one. In the matrix, the divisional manager and functional manager work at the same level
(Kinstone, 1983).
Benefits of case management in nursing

Reduced length of stay in a healthcare facility for a patient significantly reduces (Zander,

1988).
Patient satisfaction in the services provided in healthcare facilities is increased
Unnecessary utilization of resources is reduced.

According to Zander, (1988), Medical re-admission rates are reduced, and institutions
revenue increased.

Nurses un-involvement in nursing professional organizations

According to Yeager SJ, Kline (1983), the reasons for not joining nursing organizations are:

High membership fees charged by these organizations discourage joining.

Lack of time to participate in the activities put by the professional nursing organizations.
Little motivation given by the group is a discouraging factor for those intending to join

the groups.
Finally, too little information about these professional nursing organizations makes the
nurses scare away from joining them.
