WORDS OF THE PRESIDENT

Hi everyone, I hope every one is enjoying the summer. I've
been very lazy this summer. If I haven't been at the club I've
been hanging out by my kids pool. Earlier this summer my
grandson graduated from college and he will be joining the
Army soon. We are very proud of him. At the club we have
been busy with bingos, cook outs and day trips. Keep an eye
on the calendar for more activities at the club. Pres. Julianne

FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT

Greetings fellow members. Another year is half over already, boy where
does the time go. We had some fun though last month. I spent a week
dog and house sitting for my sister. It was great. I went in the pool
every day and got some good sun to keep my tan up. Ill be sorry to see
the summer go. August brings with it a ice cream party, with the money
raised by the craft people at the block party back in June. Last month
was great too because we had the special 4th of July bingo. Everyone
really enjoys those Tues. afternoons when bingo happens.
Special thanks to MSP for their contributions to the event
too, Kudos MSP! Keep reading your calendar, I'm sure
August holds true to be an other great month here at VSC.
Your V.P. Sylvia H.

FROM THE CLUB SECRETARY

Greetings fellow club members. Boy what a summer weve had. I
Cant remember a summer as warm as this one. Despite the heat
we have remained busy. Unfortunately we didn't have the State
Wide Picnic which was a disappointment. I want to thank Lee
Heller and Cathy B. for the beautiful job that they did planting
flowers and vegetables. You can see them in the planters in the
driveway. They really make the place look bright. By Paula B.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

THE SUMMER TRIP !

Chosen by popular vote the club has decided that the
summer trip will be at Wadsworth Falls State Park in
Middletown, CT. The trip will be on August 10th. We hope that
a lot of people sign up for the last big bash of the season.
Lunch will be provided. The club will be closed all day.
CONNECTICUT LEGAL RIGHTS PROJECT
Helen Mihms from CLRP in Middletown comes every third Wednesday of the
month. She assists clients and staff with housing, living wills, and advanced
directives. She meets with people in the kitchen area from 1:30-2:30pm. We
ask people to sign up on the club clipboard, staff can call and sign up their
client if necessary. People are taken on a first come, first served basis too. She
sees an average of 4-8 people a month. So please use this excellent service
because she does a great job for one but its a free one at that!

FELLOWSHIP PLACE FASHION SHOW A GROWING TRADITION!

For 8 years, our club and Fellowship Place have done an activity that shows
off the best of our members, a fashion show. This years fashion show we will
be joined by members of Options in Branford. This will be our first,
tri-member event. Members get to show off on the catwalk, then dance the
night away with a great social dance. This year show will be September 19,
2016 from 4:30-7:30pm. The event includes dinner too. Participants need to
bring their own outfits. Nice clothes make the person so we are looking for
you to show your style! See Phyllis to sign up starting by
August 15th. Come and have some fun!!

MAY BE THE LAST TIME YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR THIS PROGRAM EVER!!
