in time anywhere in the world). The research was focused on
finding alternatives to sand, a natural resource that is getting
increasingly scarce and is even banned from use in many states.
Initial success in using Pond Ash as a partial substitute to sand
encouraged the group to try and replace the entire sand in
concrete by Pond Ash without compromising on strength and
durability.
Extensive research enabled the group to successfully achieve the
objective of Total Replacement of Sand in concrete by Pond Ash.

M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology was started in 1962 by the
late Dr. M.S. Ramaiah, our Founder Chairman who was a
renowned visionary, philanthropist, and a pioneer in creating

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Established in 1971, the Department of Civil Engineering is today
one of the largest departments of MSRIT and consists of
professionals with specialization in various fields of Civil
engineering. The Department holds a patent for Total replacement
of Sand in Concrete by Pond Ash (Patent No 244063). This is

by registering with a fee of Rs.500/- Please send the
