Ferdinando Carulli (1770-1841), was

the true promoter of the Parisian
"Guitaromania", his prestige remained
unfortunatly and inexplicably tied for a
long time to didactic production and to
the well known "methods", op. 27 and
241. Nevertheless, thanks to a careful
interest in recent years and the
subsequent discovery of many unknown
works, new light is shining on the
composer. The present CD presents a
significant selection of solo pieces that
covers nearly all of Carulli's Parisian
creative span. In addition, we find the
special occasion to be able to listen some
singular pieces for voice and guitar
dedicated to the celebrated Madame
Grassini (Napoleonic "imperial singer").

Julio S. Sagreras (1879-1942) is a
pivotal figure in the history of the guitar
in South America. Throughout his career
as a guitarist, composer and teacher, he
significantly contributed to the
professionalization of the guitar in
Buenos Aires, which he took from the
end of the 19th century salon milieu to
the sphere of the concert hall.

PRODIMUS
His compositions constitute an attractive
and at the same time challenging corpus.
It allows for the display of virtuosity and
requires a level of musical subtletly and a
familiarity with popular South American
rhythms which very few performers
possess.
