Notice
Subject: Industry Oriented Hands-on Course (CST6301 / ECT6301) for students of BE
CSE and BE ECE Batch 2012
It is mandatory for all students of Engineering(CSE, ECE) disciplines to pursue Industry Oriented Hands-on Course
(IOHC) for 4 - 6 weeks duration during stipulated summer break from any company / organization. Students of Civil
Engineering will be notified in due course regarding their IOHC course.
Details and modus operandi for Industry Oriented Hands-on Course (IOHC): IOHC will be considered as a fullfledged course titled Industry Oriented Hands-on Course of 6 credits.
1. While, the students will have a choice to pursue this Hands on Training in any Engineering related field of
their interest at an industry / research lab / organization / training center of their choice, final authority to
grant this permission to pursue this course will lie with University.
2. Students, who have the opportunity or are interested for pursuing their training overseas, can contact Mr.
Satyajeet Singh (satyajeet.singh@chitkara.edu.in), Office of International Affairs, Chitkara University.
3. Students can get the No Objection Certificates (NOC) (draft provided in Annexure1) for the concerned
Organization from the Office of Training and Placement (Room No. 416).
4. On receipt of NOCs from University, the students would be able to apply to the concerned organization.

5. Students are required to obtain Consent letter (draft provided in Annexure2) from the IOHC
organization. All the CSE students should submit the same to Ms. Neha Kishore and ECE students
should submit it to Ms. Parul Saini latest by 15th April, 2014.
6. Work done by the student will be evaluated on the basis of following criteria:
(a) The contents presented in the project report.
(b) Viva voce /seminar.
(c) Each group of students is required to submit a summary (4 to 5 pages) of their project report in
the form of a research paper (in IEEE Format). Selected papers will be sent in journals or
conferences for publication.
7. Detailed guidelines of the evaluation components will be provided in due course of time.

Students may be asked to demonstrate their project


that they may have developed as part of their
learning in IOHC

Presentation skills

A good presentation to showcase the work done is


always important. Students are advised to prepare
well for the presentation.

Viva Voce

Students would be put through an oral


examination.

It is a matter of great pride for us that the students of Chitkara University are ready to pursue their six weeks
internship program named Industry Oriented Hands on Course (IOHC).
Chitkara University has been established by the Himachal Pradesh State Legislature under the "Chitkara University
Act". It is a government recognized University with the right to confer degrees as per the Sections 2(f) and 22(1) of
the UGC Act, 1956. We have been placing lot of emphasis on industry-Academia collaboration. The unique features
of our academic system are - a learning centric approach, continuous evaluation system, emphasis on application
oriented learning by students and a strong Industry-relevant curriculum. Chitkara remains one of the top choices for
engineering aspirants in the northern part of the country every year and has been growing very fast on pan India basis
so as to produce engineering professionals of the highest standards.
IOHC is a 6 credit course, where a student is expected to work on engineering project. The project being pursued by
the student is to be jointly evaluated by the host organization of the Industry and the University. The mode for
evaluation could be mutually decided by University and host organization.
