in the politics of the image enforced by the
Reyes Catlicos: 1478 and 1501. By focusing
first on Seville, then on Granada Pereda evokes
the first moments of the institution of the Santo Oficio and its later developments. In both
cities, the local authorities had established the
obligation for citizens to keep religious images
within their houses. In Seville, the authorities in
particular targeted the marranos (Jewish converts); in Granada, the new moriscos (converted Muslims). In both cases, the edicts emanated
from the confessor of Queen Isabella of Castile,
Fray Hernando de Talavera, himself of converso origin. At the intersection of social history
and intellectual history, Images of Discord shows

The IBHR, which was formerly published by the Librairie Droz as Bibliographie Internationale de lHumanisme et de la Renaissance, has recently been acquired by Brepols
Publishers. It is an annual bibliography of citations to books and articles in various areas

history, religion, the arts, economics, political science, law, and the sciences and technology.

All prices are subject to change without prior notice. Prices exclude VAT, and shipping and handling costs, unless otherwise listed.
Please accept a price variation when prices are listed approximative, since the final number of pages can be a little bit higher than
originally planned. We will inform private customers when the price varies more than 15% from the price listed in the catalogue.
For deliveries to customers within the European Union (EU) who do not have a VAT number, VAT will be added according to
EU cross-border regulations (that is, individuals currently pay 6% on books). For deliveries to customers outside the European
Union, VAT is not chargeable but national (import) duties or GSTs will be applied where necessary; in this case they will be
charged through a local customs agent (usually the Post Office or another courier).
POSTAGE COSTS
Brepols undertakes to minimise costs of shipment

Examples for a 1 kg package (the average weight of a book is 750 gr):
- For delivery within the European Union and Switzerland: approx. 6 to 8 (excl. VAT)
- For delivery to the rest of the world (incl. North America, Australia, and Japan): approx. 7 to 10 (excl. VAT)

WHEN WILL THE ORDER BE DELIVERED?
Books available at our main warehouse and sent by non-priority mail will usually be delivered:
- for customers within the European Union: within 2 to 3 weeks
- to North America or Australasia: within 3 to 4 weeks
On request products can be sent by courier.
Customers may also order publications which are not yet available. The order will be held as pending and fulfilled
when the publication becomes available.
