Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia is a

country in Southeast Asia. Situated between the Indian and

Pacific Ocean, it is the largest island country, with more than

Its average population density is 134 people per
square kilometer (347 per sq mi), 79th in the world, although
Java, the world's most populous island, has a population
density of 940 people per square kilometer (2,435 per sq mi).
At 4,884 meters (16,024 ft), Puncak Jaya in Papua is
Indonesia's highest peak, and Lake Toba in Sumatra its largest
lake, with an area of 1,145 square kilometers (442 sq mi).
Indonesia's location on the edges of the Pacific, Eurasian, and
Australian tectonic plates makes it the site of numerous
volcanoes and frequent earthquakes. Indonesia has at least
150 active volcanoes, including Krakatoa and Tambora.
Lying along the equator, Indonesia has a tropical
climate, with two distinct monsoonal wet and dry seasons.
Average annual rainfall in the lowlands varies from 1,780

millimeters (240 inches) in mountainous regions. Humidity is
generally high, averaging about 80%. Temperatures vary little
throughout the year; the average daily temperature range of
Jakarta is 2630 C (7986 F).
Java is home to 56.7 percent of the Indonesian
population, and is the most populous island on Earth. The
Indonesian capital city, Jakarta, is located on western Java.
Much of Indonesian history took place on Java. It was the
center of powerful Hindu-Buddhist empires, the Islamic
sultanates, and the core of the colonial Dutch East Indies.
Java was also the center of the Indonesian struggle for
independence during the 1930s and 1940s. Java dominates
Indonesia politically, economically and culturally.
Formed mostly as the result of volcanic eruptions, Java
is the 13th largest island in the world and the fifth largest in
Indonesia. A chain of volcanic mountains forms an eastwest
spine along the island. Three main languages are spoken on
the island, with Javanese being the dominant; it is the native
language of about 60 million people in Indonesia, most of
whom live on Java.
Most residents are bilingual, with Indonesian as their first or

Muslim, Java has a diverse mixture of religious beliefs,

Malang is the second largest city in East Java, the city
was 820,243 in 2010. Its built-up (or metro) area was home to
2,795,209 inhabitants spread on 2 cities and 22 districts (21 in

European residents. The city is well known for its mild climate.

connected to the sea only through several caves above and
below the surface. That means that the water inside the
lagoon remains calm, and makes a perfect place for
swimming. It is also worthwhile to walk a little bit further to
explore the island some more, since it is uninhabited except
for the wildlife.
You need some good shoes to trek in about two hours through
the forest. A fishermen boat will help you cross the straight.
And, a ranger is coming with you as a guide. Sempu Island
also has other fascinating spots, such as the beaches WaruWaru, Pasir Panjang, Pasir Kembar, Fresh Water Beach and ,
and the lakes Telaga Lele (Catfish Lake, many catfish within
the lake) and Telaga Sat (Dry Lake), and the Tiger Cave.

Sendang Biru Beach

Arriving at Sendang Biru is driving into a colorful harbor with a
lot of fishermen boats, small and big. It is not only the beach
that makes this place really worthwhile to visit, but also the
village and the people itself. The village is also well known as
it holds the biggest fish auction in Malang. Walking around the
village tells you how local fishermen live. Feel free to walk
around, since the people are welcoming. he beach has quiet
water, since just in front of it, you will find the also famous
island Sempu. Only a narrow strait separates the island and
Sendang Biru. The village itself faces the Indian Ocean.
Most visitors just know the place as an entrance to the island
Sempu, but that really underestimates the beauty of the village

Ngliyep Beach

Sumber Pitu Waterfall or the locals named Umbulan Pitu is the

waterfall lies on the western area of Mount Bromo National Park.
Precisely, in Duwet Krajan village, Tumpang district of Malang
regency. This waterfall is about 30 km from the downtown of
Malang, this is one of the largest springs in Duwet Krajan village.
Sumber Pitu Waterfall ( the seven springs) come from the springs
that emerge at seven points where are almost adjacent. Uniquely,
this springs are in the cliffs and the water gushes out from the
ground immediately as the waterfalls in a huge number. The
discharge of the seven springs is up to 1,600 L / sec. As we know
that there are many springs and the discharge of the water that
comes out , this is a possibility that the seven springs (coban pitu)
are the underground river

Jawa Timur Park or more often known as Jatim Park is a wellknown theme park in Malang that offers various rides, and

Wonosari tea plantation

Wonosari tea plantation is located 30 KM north of Malang,
notably in Lawang District that lies on the foot of Mt Arjuno. It

This tea plantation is the oldest tea plantation in East Java that
was utilized as agrotourism. The idea started in 1998, as the
application of Kaliklatak Plantation try out in Banyuwangi.
Wonosari is located at between 950 and 1over 1350 meters,

rainbow among the waterfall even there is no rain. The 30meter high waterfall is perfect for relaxing; you can play in the
water or simply enjoy the scenery from the huts.

Singosari Temple
Singosari temple, known locally as (Candi Singosari), located in
Singosari district, Malang (about 12km north from Malang). This well
preserved Hindu temple dates from 1300AD and is a reminder of the
great Hindu kingdoms that ruled East Java before the arrival of Islam. A
visit to the nearby bathing pools at Ken Dedes combines perfectly with
Singosari Temple. Ken Dedes was the wife of the first King of
Singhasari (later Singosari) and these bathing pools are believed to
have been part of the royal court. There are some quite wonderful
statues here. The whole area has some other fine relics from the early
Hindu kingdoms including Candi Jago and Candi Kidal. Ask your

Coban rondo is the next gorgeous waterfall located in
Pandansari village that hides beautiful paradise. To reach the
place, you must drive 12 km from Batu district, walk down the
stairs, and enjoy the cool, green, and relaxing atmosphere of
the waterfall.

Candi Kidal (Kidal Temple)

Padepokan Seni Mangun Dharma (Mangun Dharma Art

Center), Desa Tulus Besar Tumpang, (psmd@indo.net.id). Arts
centre dedicated to the research, promotion and performance
of traditional East Javanese artforms including dance, batik,
shadow puppetry and carving. Superb place. Dance
performances can be arranged on demand and are of
excellent quality as the dancers are trained from childhood.
Their motto is Rescuing the Arts of East Java.

Taman Rekreasi Senaputra (Senaputra Park), Jalan

Brawijaya, Malang. Traditional East Java dances every
Sunday morning at 10AM in the park during the dry season
only. Every last Wednesday of the month there is a Wayang
Kulit shadow puppet show starting at 10PM.

Brawijaya Military Museum, Jalan Ijen. M-Th 08.00-14.30 / F

08.00-11.30 / Sat-Sun 08.00-13.00. Museum of East Java's
famous Brawijaya garrison of the Indonesian military.
Interesting relics of Indonesia's revolutionary war of the late
1940s, as well as the communist purges of the late 1960s. An
insight into the country's turbulent and violent past. Worth at
least 45 minutes to an hour when walking through the Jalan
Ijen area.

Mount Bromo (2,329m) is easily recognized as the entire top

has been blown off and the crater inside constantly belches
white sulfurous smoke. It sits inside the massive Tengger
caldera. with a diameter of approximately 10km, surrounded
by the Laut Pasir (Sea of Sand) of fine volcanic sand. The
overall effect is unsettlingly unearthly, especially when
compared to the lush green valleys all around the caldera.
The major access point is Cemoro Lawang (also Cemara
Lawang or Cemora Lawang - blame the East Javanese
accent!) at the northeastern edge of the caldera, but there are
also trails from Tosari (northwest) and Ngadas (southwest).
The village of Ngadisari, on the road from Probolinggo about
5.5km before Cemoro Lawang, marks the entrance to the
national park. Both Cemoro Lawang and Ngadisari are rather
picturesque, with brightly-painted houses and flower beds
outside.

You can fly directly to Malang. The airport of Malang is

called Abdul Rachman Saleh. It refers to an Indonesian hero
who had fought for Indonesian independence. The old airport
belongs to Indonesian Air Forced and since a couple of
months there is a new building of the airport that is used for
commercial aim.

As an alternative you can also get to Malang from Surabaya, if

you decided to travel to Malang above 17.00 PM because
Malang Airport do not provide flights over 17.00 PM. After
youve arrived at Juanda Airport in Surabaya, East Java you

in Malang a long time ago. This place is located in Malang
downtown, nearby the Alun-Alun of Malang city. Toko Oen
served you a nostalgic atmosphere of Dutch colonial era
you can enjoy by its interior; the chequered tablecloth,
rattan serving trolley and also wooden cake cabinet, this
place is a throw-back to the 1960s/1970s. There are also a
lot of Dutch paintings and so on. If you are looking for an
old world charm, this is the place to be visited.
For the menu, always go for the ice creams! ox-tongue
steak are also the recommended one. Toko Oen is wellknown as historical restaurant in the city, nice place to stay
for a coffee or tea, and what makes this place special is; it
gives the visitor a wonderful flash back to the old times.

Rumah Makan Inggil (Inggil Resto) is truly a delightful dining

experience, an unique combination of museum and restaurant
which you cant miss whenever you are visiting Malang. Inggil
Resto is placed behind the Town Hall, close to The Tugu Hotel.
This place has prefect ambience, you may enjoy dinner with a
little live concert of keroncong and sometimes, a traditional
dancers. Inggil Resto has a very vintage interior; you can also
feel the museum vibe. This place has a lot of antique things
such as advertisements, old photos, clocks, mirrors, kitchen
utensils, typewriters and other Dutch stuff from the colonial
era. It is showed right after we stepped into the place. The staff
is very friendly theyre wearing the traditional clothes, having a
great knowledge of local history and arts and some of them
just incredibly speaking English and Dutch! The most
important of all in the restaurant is the food, Rumah Inggil has
a very reasonable prices for such high quality Javanese and
Indonesian food. All of the recommendation food is excellent!

Bakso President
Malang has known for its iconic culinary Bakso Malang
(Malang meatball). Bakso President is the most popular place
where you can taste Malang iconic food. It has been captured
by several TV programs and visited by a lot of nation celebrity.
Youll find many signatures and photos stick on the wall.
Meanwhile, you wont find any fancy design of chair and table,
unique interior or the Throw back atmosphere here, Bakso
President will only please your tongue by the most delicious
meatball soup in town. Its all the food taste youll enjoy,
everything in the menu is recommended. Dont worry about
the price, it is very affordable here and maybe you can say its
quite cheap. There are lot variations of meatball and
dumplings. Besides, Bakso President located in a very unique
place, it is literally next to active rail track. You have to cross

Pos Ketan Legenda

If you are planning to have a night snack time, Pos Ketan
Legenda is a good match to come over. It is located behind the
Alun-alun of Batu city, 30 minutes drive by car from Malang.
This place is very popular among the local citizens for its
legendary Ketan (sticky rice), almost every day the shop is full
of customers especially at night. Both young and old, sitting
around, gathering while enjoying coffee and a plate of sticky
rice. A small stall with a huge crowd, thats the perfect words to
describing this place, people seems to be hypnotized, they are
willing to wait for hours just to enjoy this legendary sticky rice.
Pos Ketan Legenda starts open from 3pm to 3am. They serve
a lot of sticky rice with variety of toppings and beverages such
as coffee, fresh milk, STMJ (Milk combined with egg, honey
and ginger) to warm your body. Ketan Susu Keju (Sticky rice
with cheese and condensed milk) is the all time favorite. The
