Details of the judges


Vicki Treadell
Mrs Victoria Treadell CMG MVO has been appointed British High
Commissioner to Malaysia since October 2014. Her FCO career has
further covered a wide range of other policy and service delivery roles
including three years as UK Trade and Investments Director for the North
West of England. She was made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order
(MVO) in 1989 and a Commander of the Order of St Michael and St
George (CMG) in 2010. In 2009 she won the Public Sector Award in the
UKs prestigious Asian Women of Achievement Awards.

Velu Perumal
President of the Association of Creativity and Innovation Design Malaysia
(ACRIDEM) He has served for 15 years as an Industrial Designer and
Industrial Design Engineers in multinational companies such as
Panasonic Home Appliances Research and Development Centre. Velu
Perumal is a successful Industrial Design practitioner and a member of
the Malaysia Design Council. Velu Perumal is also a member of the Skill
Development Consultative Committee and was appointed as an
Industrial Spec

Nuzairi Yasin
Nuzairi is a Senior Designer at Design and Development at MIMOS
Berhad. He is a successful Industrial Design practitioner and his team is
well-known for winning the Red Dot Award and the team had come out
tops in various design competitions including Malaysia Good Design
Mark and Korea Institute of Design Promotion Award. He is also a
member of Malaysia Design Council.

Bugs Tan
Mr Bugs Tan is one of the well-known Inventors in Malaysia. He won 15
awards national and internationally. He was made a fellow at the
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and was also engaged as a
Research Fellow at the Institute Sultan Iskandar. Bugs Tan was one of the
panellists to select deserving winners from a pool of Professors and
members of the academia for the prestigious National Academic Award.
Mr Bugs is a Trainer certified by the Ministry of Human Resource. He
specialises in inculcating a culture of creativity in an organization.

MY: JDA National Judging Session 2016

Objective
We have 10 entries this year and we are hosting a James Dyson Award 2016
national judging session. Our esteemed 4 judges from Malaysia will help us
narrow down to the top 3 winners. Projects will be judged purely on quality of entry
- from the significance of the design to the various iterations of the design and how
the product has developed. The judges will select one national winner and up to 2
additional entries per country to advance to the next level of the competition.
