Aasandha Company Ltd is an organization which endows with the universal health insurance
scheme of the Maldives. Formerly, it was handled by Allied Insurance Company of the Maldives in

Aasandha Company was authoritatively estranged from Allied Insurance on 1st March 2015 and
functions under the government as a public-private organization.
This report is a management report detailing the work experience in the organization. Moreover,
organization background and information has been researched. Also, current working practices
were investigated and analyzed whilst the work experience project was carried out.

A SUITABLE HOST ORGANIZATION (P1.1)

1211

The host organization chosen for the work experience project is Aasandha Company Limited. The
main reason for selecting Aasandha Company for this project is because I am currently working in
the organization as an Assistant Officer. Furthermore, it would be easier for me to access to
information easily, engage in useful work simultaneously completing the actual work while working
on the work experience project too. In addition, Aasandha Company runs a lot of projects to meet
the deadlines and for more efficient work.
STRUCTURE OF THE HOST ORGANIZATION AND THE SECTOR IN WHICH IT OPERATES
(P1.2)
Organizational structure can be defined as Design of the basic structure involves such central
issues as how the work of the organization will be divided and assigned among positions, groups,
departments, divisions, etc., and how the coordination necessary to accomplish total
organizational objectives will be achieved. (Dalton, Lawrence, & Lorsch, 1970) Aasandha
Company has a Functional Structure meaning that employees are split into sub groups based on
specialized functional areas, where functional departmental heads are there.

Figure 1.0 Structure of Aasandha Company

Athika Ali

1211

Aasandha Company is from insurance sector where, every Maldivian with a valid national identity
card is covered in this scheme.
In every organization, organizational relationships should be defined and comprehensible.
Linkages and interactions in the midst of various levels within an organization are vital to the
processes of planning, decision-making, and implementation. Besides, both formal and informal
relationships are significant for attaining organizational goals and objectives. To have a truly
effective performance management process that supports employee performance, development
and success, everyone needs to get involved. Having engaged and informed senior executives,
managers and employees will eventually result in higher participation rates and enhanced quality
performance management. Likewise, in Aasandha Company everyone is involved, from all parts
and levels of the organization, driving performance, accountability and engagement.
The current growth areas in the sector include E-Invoicing. E-invoicing in Aasandha Company has
minimized a lot of paperwork cutting the cost of the company as information is posted on the
website regarding services and company policies. Also, communication between employees and
clients are mostly facilitated via e-mail which also diminishes unwanted paperwork and filing of
these as space is also saved. However, still a lot of service providers need to be empanelled
under E-invoicing to completely cutoff the paperwork load caused as many service providers still
invoice manually. This can be done by making service providers aware of E-invoicing and letting
them know about the benefits of this through training programs. In addition, Hulhumale Hospital
was recently endorsed under Aasandha Company. Currently, it is the biggest development plan as
a lot of things need to be taken control of such as renovation of the building, transformation of
staff, and employment of new staff for the vacant and new slots. Moreover, new services are to be
established in the upcoming days and the services provided now are to be enhanced in quality
wise.

HOW THE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE WOULD SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN
APPROPRIATE MANAGEMENT REPORT (P1.3)

1211

Working in STO unit under Claims Processing and Stakeholder Relations of Aasandha Company,
I had to work under a Senior Officer and an Officer, where coordination and delegation of other
employees work were assigned additionally than approval of invoice and contact other units
employees and supervisors. Hence, this helped to improve the communication skills. As the
approval of invoices was allocated on a daily basis with a due set target, time management was
sustained. Additionally, other management skills were developed while a lot new knowledge was
gained that has helped to support this management report. I have also understood how other units
function and how different motivational theories and leaderships styles are used in organizations
for work efficiency. Also, laying the groundwork, planning the work, estimating the project and
tracking the project helped in ensuring a more solid handle on the management report. All of
these things has facilitated in preparing and supporting the management report.
NEGOTIATE APPROPRIATE AIMS, OBJECTIVES AND TARGETS FOR THE WORK-BASED
PROJECT TASK (P2.1)
The set aims, objectives and targets for the work-based project task are as follows
Aims

Objectives
Grow to be a manager at some point
Higher studies in the relevant field so that it can be understood and managed more
efficiently
Targets

Complete the assigned tasks per the deadline

Gain problem solving techniques
Increase communication skills through other units
Build up team spirit and work as a team
Develop and mentor other staff at the unit

EVALUATE HOW THE AIMS, OBJECTIVES AND TARGETS WILL BENEFIT BOTH THE
ORGANIZATION AND YOURSELF (P2.2)

1211

Aims
Show full potential in work if all staff of the unit show full commitment in their work, team
targets will be reached in a faster pace.
Maintain the quality and quantity of invoices approved careless mistakes will be
minimized with a good figure of invoices.
Objectives
Creating a good image for staff of other units less medical leaves will result in a more
efficient outcome which will be highlighted in Supervisors Meeting.
More flexibility in invoice approval introducing and encouraging E-Invoicing for as many
service providers as possible to minimize manual invoicing and misplacement of invoices.
Targets
Trainings conducted for service providers identification of the current issues giving
information how to tackle and minimize these issues.
E-Invoicing introduced invoices will be received easier through the portal and
transportation time and cost can be minimized for service providers while the invoice
management can be simply supervised.
Conclusion
These benefits match the benefits sought by the organization and self, as responsibilities allocated
will be accomplished easier through these aims and objectives. Fewer issues will be raised up by
service providers regarding the invoices and approval of invoices will be more efficient.
Recommendations
Improving the CSC (Customer Service Centre) by giving appropriate training to these staff, as
information provided to customers and service providers will be more competent. Also, developing
the software to the needs and requirements of the staff will enhance the work.

DEVELOP CONCLUSIONS TO MEET THE AIMS, OBJECTIVES AND TARGETS (P4.1)
Most of the aims, objectives and targets were achieved. However, some of these were unable to
achieve due to various reasons. For instance a suitable work environment is required such as the
whole team placed in one place where they can communicate easily. Also, more staff needs to be
hired for the unit as all of the unit work cannot be managed by the present staff and motivational
trainings can be provided for staff from time to time.
