car and the equipment in it.

Important information
The retrofit kit is for use within the BMW dealership organisation only.
Check the status of the control units using the CIP program (Coding, Individua-lising,
Programming) before you install the retrofit. If the test detects incorrect statuses in one or
more control units, these must be updated first using the update function.
After the installation work the retrofit CD changer must be coded using DIS or MoDiC via the
Retrofit path.
Target group
The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars
with specialist knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
Work:
All servicing, repair and installation work on BMW cars is completed at your own risk.
All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals and circuit diagrams in a
rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety
regulations.

To install and connect the CD changer wiring harness

Disconnect the grey plug X10454 from the fuse


holder (1).
Connect branch A1 to plug X10454 in PIN 3.

Reconnect plug X10454 to the fuse holder (1).


Connect fusible link F into slot 6 of the fuse holder
(1).

Disconnect the BR/SW cable (1) from plug X13665


PIN 1 and connect socket casing (2).
Connect branch A2 in parallel between plug

Connect plug X13836 to the MOST flash


connection (1).

Disconnect the incoming fibre optic cable from


plug X13836 PIN 1 and connect branch A3.

Do not bend the fibre optic cable beyond its


bending radius limit of 50 mm.

Unlock the fibre optic cable connector (1) of


branch A4 and connect the disconnected fibre
optic cable (2).

To install the CD changer

Screw the cover (1) onto the CD-changer B using


Philips screws E.

Remove the transport guards (1) from the CDchanger B and cover the openings with the
adhesive patches provided.
Remove the covers (2) and set the adjustment
mechanism to horizontal installation.

Fit the covers (2) again.


Screw the radio retaining pin D onto the CDchanger B.

Connect branch A5 to the CD changer B.

Push the CD changer B into the instrument panel


(1) and use the Philips screws (2) provided to
screw it on.

Concluding work

- Connect battery
- Code the car using DISPlus or MoDiC III via path Retrofit.
- Conduct a function test
- Assemble the car following the instructions to dismantle it in reverse order
