Assembly
Instructions

The following instructions provide information to assemble the


Cat Virtual Training System M Series Motor Grader Simulator
(TEXY1000).
Remove all parts, hardware, and software CD from the boxes.
Locate the required hand tools. The VTS M Series Motor
Grader Simulator kit contains the following items:
One (1) Chair Base Assembly
One (1) Left Control Lever Pod with one (1) Wiring
Harness attached
One (1) Right Control Lever Pod with one (1) Wiring
Harness attached
One (1) Two-Piece Adapter Plate consisting of a Short
Pedal Plate, a Long Plate, Two (2) Mounting Blocks
and Two (2) Connecting Tabs
Two (2) Adjuster Bars
One (1) Pedal Support Structure with Three (3) Pedal
Assemblies attached
One (1) Motor Grader Software CD
One (1) bag of Tie Wraps
One (1) Hardware Bag containing:

Eight (8) Thumb Screws

Two (2) M8 1.25 40 mm bolts

Ten (10) M8 1.25 25 mm bolts

Four (4) M8 1.25 mm hex nuts

Eight (8) M8 25 mm bolts (for Connecting Tabs)

Assembly requires the following hand tools:


7/16 inch Socket with drive set
3/16 inch Allen Wrench
The VTS M Series Motor Grader Simulator Kit is assembled
in nine major steps:
1. Chair Base Assembly
2. Control Lever Pods
3. Adapter Plate
4. Pedal Support Structure and Pedal Assemblies
5. Wiring Harness
6. Component Connection to the Computer
7. Power Supply Connection
8. Software Installation
9. Component Calibration
Each component should be assembled and connected in the steps
shown above.
Chair Base Assembly
1. Place the Chair Base Assembly on a flat surface and
remove the packing from between the Chair Base arms.
(The oval Hand Grip cutout designates the rear of the
Chair Base Assembly.)
2. Rotate one arm to the full vertical position and insert
two (2) threaded Thumb Screws through the Chair Base
bracket from the outside. Thread these fasteners into the
threaded holes in the vertical arm finger tight. DO NOT
OVER TIGHTEN.
3. Repeat this step for the other vertical arm.

Control Lever Pods


1. The M Series Motor Grader Simulator Kit contains two
Control Lever Pods a Left Pod and a Right Pod. The Left
Pod can be identified by the Joystick with the three position
trigger switch. The wiring harnesses are connected to
each Control Lever Pod.
2. Place the base rail of the Left Control Lever Pod onto the
left vertical arm and insert two (2) threaded Thumb Screws
through the Pod Bracket from the outside. Thread these
fasteners into the threaded holes in the left vertical arm
finger tight. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
3. Repeat this step for the Right Control Lever Pod.
Adapter Plate
The Adapter Plate consists of eight (8) pieces and the necessary
fasteners and hardware. These pieces include:
Short Pedal Plate
Long Pedal Plate
Two (2) Adjuster Bars
Two (2) Mounting Blocks
Two (2) Connecting Tabs
Fasteners and Hardware:

Two (2) M8 1.25 40 mm bolts

Six (6) M8 1.25 25 mm bolts

Ten (10) M8 25 mm bolts (for Connecting Tabs)

Eight (8) M8 1.25 mm hex nuts

Assembly:
1. Fasten the two (2) Adjuster Bars to the Short Plate.
Attach each bar with one (1) M8 1.25 40 mm bolt and
M8 1.25 mm hex nut in the holes provided toward the
notched (front) portion of the plate. Attach each bar with
one (1) M8 1.25 25 mm bolt and M8 1.25 mm hex
nut in the holes provided toward the straight (rear) portion
of the plate. (See Diagram #1)
2. Attach the Mounting Blocks in the holes provided at the
rear of the Long Plate using two (2) M8 25 mm bolts
for each Mounting Blocks. (See Diagram #1)
3. Attach the Connecting Tabs to the Mounting Blocks in the
holes provided using two (2) M8 1.25 25 mm bolts for
each Mounting Strap. (See Diagram #1)
4. Connect the Short Pedal Plate to the Long Pedal Plate
by inserting two (2) M8 1.25 25 mm bolts in the
two (2) holes provided at the end of each Adjuster Bar.
Use a total of four (4) M8 1.25 Hex Nuts.
5. Remove the front thumbscrew from each vertical arm of
the Chair Base Assembly.
6. Attach the Long Plate by inserting the Thumb Screw
through the Connecting Tab into the Chair Base bracket
and vertical arm finger tight. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
7. Repeat this step to attach the Adapter Plate on the other
side of the Chair Base Assembly.
Pedal Support Structure Pedal Assemblies Wiring Harnesses
1. Place the Pedal Structure onto the Floor Plate Adapter in
the Adjuster Bars with the wheels to the rear and in the
slots provided in the Front Plate.
2. Adjust the Pedal Structure by lifting the front and moving the
assembly to a comfortable distance from the operator chair.

Wiring Harness
(The Wiring Harness connectors are keyed and self-orienting.)
1. Remove the ends of the two (2) Wiring Harnesses from the
plastic bags provided. The Wiring Harnesses are attached
to the Control Lever Pods at the Factory. Do not attempt
to disconnect the Wiring Harnesses from the Control
Lever Pods.
2. Route the Wiring Harnesses around the left side of the
Chair Base Assembly.
3. Connect the Harness coming from the Left Control Lever
Pod to the pin (upper) connector located on the Right
Side of the Pedal Structure.
4. Connect the Harness coming from the Right Control Lever
Pod to the socket (lower) connector located on the Right
Side of the Pedal Structure.
5. Tie-wrap the Wiring Harnesses to the left arm of the Chair
Base Assembly.
6. Tie-wrap the Wiring Harnesses to the right arm of the
Chair Base Assembly.
7. Tie-wrap the two Wiring Harnesses to the right side of the
Floor Plates in the holes provided.
Component Connection to the Computer
1. Connect the single USB wire coming from the Pedal
Structure to an available USB port on the computer.
Power Supply Connection
1. Connect the single Power wire coming from the Pedal
Structure to an available 110-volt or 220-volt power supply.
M Series Motor Grader simulator software
1. Remove the Software CD and insert into the computer
CD drive.
2. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
Component Calibration
1. Each Simulator Control Device requires calibration.
Follow the instructions provided in the separate document
titled Simulator Controls Calibration Procedure.
