Introduction

In early days there were 2000 technologies and that was still a
difficult concept to grasp. Over the years countless people have
worked on making technology more intuitive for the man to
understand. Then a new wave innovator had the brilliant idea of
simplifying gadgets to the extent that can use by kids too .And the
result was there is a fun products are available for children.
ROBOTICS:
Everyone has a goal to buy a new robot .that goal seems to achieve in
todays world .Now we are going to talk about some of the popular
robotics based on toys .
Ozobot:
Ozobot has been termed as an intelligent robot that can
be used for both physical and digital gaming .ozobot is a small
spherical shaped robot that has a color deduction and line following
capabilities. The creators of ozobot went a step further and made the
robot compatible with iOS and androids platforms, enabling the robot
to be controlled via a smart phone or tablet. The robot has a fivesensor array for line detection and now comes with a Li-poly
rechargeable battery. It is also used to detect a physical and digital
surfaces, colour and time of the day using gyro-sensors. Ozobot is the
world smallest robot, we can measure only over 1inch in both height
and diameter. It has the ability to make independent decisions. Then
robot can be used for wide range of gaming activities, it is also
following digital racing games such as Ozobot OzoRace.Ozobot is the
multicolour LEDs which provide visual feedback.
LEGO MINDSTROMS
It has the name as one of the leading construction
toys. Then they announced as Lego Mindstrom project. The main

component of Lego Mindstorms is the brick. Brick is the

programmable brain of the entire kit. The kit consist of four input and
output ports and it has one mini USB to connect to a
computer(which means user can upload the code to the brick) and it
also have one extra USB port for adding Wi-Fi capabilities. It is also
same like a Ozobot while detecting colours. This brick can be used as
a Childs programming skills. It can be connected via Bluetooth or WiFi using advanced blocks. It has been extensively used in DIY
creations. For example, 12- year -old boy Shubham Banerjee who
developed a low- cost DIY braille printer in California. At the time the
printers were extremely expensive .After that, he started his own
company and developed a low-cost printer named as BRAIGO.
SPHERO
Sphero means a sound like a sphere. This is not only a
sphere you can control it with your smart phones. The ball like
robot can be controlled via android or iOS smart phones, when they
were connected via Bluetooth. The spheros has the ability to act as an
external maker in augmented reality (AR) vision-apparently the first
time a robot is being used in this way .They released an AR game to
supplement Sphero called sharky the Beaver, where user can control a
beaver on a screen which means the sphere as an external maker. The
company has released SDK for the toys software, it is helpful for the
users to create their own apps to be used with it.Users create 25 apps
in the Google play store using the toy software.
SAM BLOCKS
The latest tech toy, making the news these days is the SAM set of
building blocks; it is based on the wireless connectivity. SAM is the
brain child of Joachim horn, who got fed up of multitude of wires
every time he needed to make an electrical circuit .This is more
complex to use so he develop an idea of connecting two or more
wirelessly. A SAM kit consists of building blocks and it is very

similar to LEGO. It can be connected to each other using Bluetooth.

SAM applications used to improve the level of intelligence for the
children. The role of SAM is to educate people about the internet of
things and it has the concept of gaining new knowledge about
everything. Horns say that user can connect their project to the social
network, thus helps the circuit to be used from any location.
OWI EDUCATIONAL SOLAR ROBOT
OWI robots lets the children to experience
the working of both, solar and robotics in one kit. The kit lets the user
to modify the robot into 14 different forms. Now a days robots comes
equipped with a solar panel, for saving user from the additional
expense of batteries for it.This also have an alternative opportunity to
use alkaline battery.

What is Application Software? Definition, Examples & Types

Instructor: Christine Curley

What is computer application software, and how does it differ from other categories of software?
This lesson introduces you to some examples of application software and how they are used.

Software Types
The term 'software' refers to the set of electronic program instructions or data a computer
processor reads in order to perform a task or operation. In contrast, the term 'hardware' refers to
the physical components that you can see and touch, such as the computer hard drive, mouse,
and keyboard.
Software can be categorized according to what it is designed to accomplish. There are two main
types of software: systems software and application software.

Systems Software
Systems software includes the programs that are dedicated to managing the computer itself,
such as theoperating system, file management utilities, and disk operating system (or DOS).
The operating system manages the computer hardware resources in addition to applications and
data. Without systems software installed in our computers we would have to type the instructions
for everything we wanted the computer to do!

Applications Software
Application software, or simply applications, are often called productivity programs or enduser programs because they enable the user to complete tasks such as creating documents,
spreadsheets, databases, and publications, doing online research, sending email, designing
graphics, running businesses, and even playing games! Application software is specific to the
task it is designed for and can be as simple as a calculator application or as complex as a word
processing application. When you begin creating a document, the word processing software has

already set the margins, font style and size, and the line spacing for you. But you can change
these settings, and you have many more formatting options available. For example, the word
processor application makes it easy to add color, headings, and pictures or delete, copy, move,
and change the document's appearance to suit your needs.

Microsoft Word is a popular word-processing application that is included in the software suite of
applications called Microsoft Office. A software suite is a group of software applications with
related functionality. For example, office software suites might include word processing,
spreadsheet, database, presentation, and email applications. Graphics suites such as Adobe
Creative Suite include applications for creating and editing images, while Sony Audio Master
Suite is used for audio production.
A Web browser, or simply browser, is an application specifically designed to locate, retrieve,
and display content found on the Internet. By clicking a hyperlinkor by typing the URL of a
website, the user is able to view Web sites consisting of one or more Web pages. Browsers such
as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari are just a few of the many
available to choose from.

Software applications[edit]
Software engineers build software (applications, operating systems, system software) that people
use.
Applications influence software engineering by pressuring developers to solve problems in new
ways. For example, consumer software emphasizes low cost, medical software emphasizes high
quality, and Internet commerce software emphasizes rapid development.

spreadsheets, more than they ever used calculators. Engineers use custom softwaretools to
design, analyze, and simulate their own projects, like bridges and power lines. These
projects resemble software in many respects, because the work exists aselectronic
documents and goes through analysis, design, implementation, and testing phases. Software
tools for engineers use the tenets of computer science; as well as the tenets of calculus,
physics, and chemistry.
