Today I went to the Corburn place with a nutrition health educator. The
Corburn place is for families who need have been abused and need help getting
back on their feet. We played a game with the kids and let them try a green
smoothie. All of the kids liked the smoothie and seemed like they had a lot of fun.
For the rest of the day I worked on BSU assignments and an in-service project for
MCHD.

Today I had a meeting for FIMR (fetal immortality review). We discussed why
babies in Marion County are dying and what can we do to prevent that. We reviewed
3 different cases of infant deaths. It was very sad and eye opening. For the rest of
the day, I worked at WIC. I got to observe a class and three one on one counseling
sessions.

Today I watched a webinar about posting food pictures on social media. It was
very interesting and I learned about how to post healthy food pictures that look the
most appealing and appetizing. The webinar was presented by an RD. I then
presented a powerpoint about fruits and vegetables to a group of women called Fit
for the Father. They workout in a church and then I presented to them women
about cooking with fruits and vegetables. I provided them with a sample of a fruit
and veggie salad recipe.

Today I had a meeting for Maternal Child Health. Staff from all different areas
of MCHD come together and discuss different topics. There was a speaker about
ZIKA and what Marion County is doing to prevent it from spreading. There was a
speaker about Moms Helpline and a speaker about the MCHD twitter. Each program
also updated the group with things going on. I liked seeing how different
departments can come together and help each other. After the meeting, I finished
my board about World Breastfeeding Week. I worked on Ball State projects and
projects for MCHD.

Today I went to the Indianapolis Healthy Babies Consortium. Three speakers
presented about obesity and pregnancy and the harmful affects of what obesity has
on the mother and baby. The meeting was really interested and provided me with a

good insight of this problem. They also talked about what could the health
department could do to help this problem.

Today I went to a back to school health fair. We had a booth to talk about
nutrition and gave handouts to the parents and children.
