spellcasterlevel.IfthecharacterhadmorethanonespellcastingclassbeforebecominganArtificeAdept,theplayermustdecidetowhichclassto
addeachAdeptlevelforthispurpose.Forexample,a5thlevelwizard/2ndlevelArtificeAdeptscasterlevelwouldbe7th,duetothisability,buthe
wouldonlyhaveaccessto3rdlevelspells(5thlevelwizard).
ImitativeArtisan(Ex):AnArtificeAdeptcancreateamagicitemevenifhedoesnothaveaccesstothespellsthatareprerequisitesfortheitem.
TheArtificeAdeptmustmakeasuccessfulUseMagicDevicecheck(DC20+casterlevel)toemulateeachspellnormallyrequiredtocreatethe
item.Thus,tomakea1stlevelwandofmagicmissile,anArtificeAdeptwouldneedaUseMagicDevicecheckresultof21orhigher.Tocreatea
bottleofair(casterlevel7th),hewouldneedacheckresultof27orhighertoemulatethewaterbreathingprerequisite.
TheArtificeAdeptmustmakeasuccessfulcheckforeachprerequisiteforeachitemhemakes.Ifhefailsacheck,hecantryagaineachdayuntil
theitemiscomplete,uptoamaximumnumberoftriesequaltohisclasslevel.Ifhecomestotheendofthecraftingtimeorreachesthemaximum
numberoftriesandhehasstillnotsuccessfullyemulatedoneofthepowers,thenthecreationprocessfailsandthetime,money,andXPexpended
tocrafttheitemarelost.
AnArtificeAdeptuseshishighestcasterlevelforthepurposesofmagicitemcreation.
Atthirdlevel,anArtificeAdeptcanalsomakeUseMagicDevicecheckstoemulatenonspellrequirements,includingalignmentandrace,usingthe
normalDCsfortheskill.Hecannotemulateskillorfeatrequirements,however,includingitemcreationfeatprerequisites.Hemustmeetthecaster
levelprerequisite,includingtheminimumleveltocastaspellhestoresinapotion,wand,orscroll.
