HISTORY OF DEI
The charge was given to initiate the University Strategic Plan. One part of this Strategic Plan calls for a
more welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for our students, faculty and staff. Dr. Brown with the Division
for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has commissioned Inclusive Actions Movement as the way for the
university to bring Inclusive Excellence to Kent State University. Inclusive Actions Movement emerged
as a result of the University Diversity Action Councils AD HOC Personal Responsibility Task Force
that was formed under the leadership of Reverend Ronald Fowler. The task assigned was to develop a
statement of personal and collective responsibility to support and participate in activities designed to
show our commitment to inclusive excellence. The Inclusive Actions Movement initiative takes the
universitys commitment to diversity as articulated in our strategic plan to a new and innovative
level to all faculty, staff and students of Kent State University!
