The SIM Accounting Association was founded in 2011 with the primary aim of boosting the
confidence and image of its members in the accounting industry. The association actively
seeks out opportunities to collaborate with various accounting institutions and increase the
exposure of our members through events and trainings. Association members are made up of
accounting, banking and business students who are keen to explore the prospects of a career
in the accounting field.

Our Vision
To be a dynamic student community where members can benefit from mutual sharing of
knowledge and experience, which facilitates greater collaboration opportunities with
professionals of the accounting industry.

Our Mission
To enhance accounting students awareness and opportunities through:(i) Establishing a professional image;
(ii) Forming partnerships with accounting firms and bodies; and
(iii) Promoting cohesiveness within the community of accounting and finance students.

Business Development

The Business Development team locates or proposes potential opportunities by


reaching out to potential partners. Business Development is the main point of
contact between the association and external parties. Responsibilities of the
Business Development team include:

Sourcing, identifying and initiating contact with external parties for long
term collaborations

Maintaining good working relationships between the association and external


parties

Planning and liaising with external parties and SIM to conduct accountingrelated talks, corporate visits, and joint projects

The Strategic Development team plans, develops and implements comprehensive


strategic plans to ensure members are well-equipped with the necessary skills and
knowledge before they step into the working world. Responsibilities of the Strategic
Development team include:

Maintaining good working relationships between the association and other


interest clubs in SIM

Liaising with the SIM Career Development office for any potential
collaborations

Organising accounting-related workshops and competitions

Human Resource acts as the bridge between the association and subscribers as
well as develop recruitment strategies in order to build a strong team.
Responsibilities of the Human Resource team include:

Managing registration of all association events

Managing committee and subscribers database

Collaboration with Empact and Shared Services for Charities Limited

Organising and conducting recruitment drives and all interviews

Ensuring the welfare of all committee members

The Finance team manages all the income and expenditures pertaining to the club.
Without a well-supervised budget, the association can easily land itself in financial
difficulties. Responsibilities of the Finance team include:

Overall control of financial activities and the associations funds

Responsible for reimbursements and members claims

Sourcing for potential sponsorship opportunities together with the Business


Development department

The Events team is the main point of contact between the university and the
association. They liaise with external parties to handle logistical support and ensure
the smooth flow of the associations events. Responsibilities of the Events team
include:

Planning, coordinating and executing all association events

Liaising with external parties to ensure the smooth running of events

In charge of drafting and submitting of event proposals to SIM

Working with the Finance team for funding of events

The Media & Marketing team is responsible for planning, development and
implementation of the associations marketing strategies, marketing
communications and public relations activities. Responsibilities of the Media &
Marketing team include:

Planning and managing the associations overall marketing efforts

Managing the associations website and social media presence (Facebook


and Instagram)

Responsible for the design and production of the associations marketing


collaterals

Designing and sending out EDMs for association events
