1. Briefly identify some examples of what you have learned and what skills were
developed in this rotation.
During this rotation, I learned about how a health department for the county is so
important. There are so many different people and groups that come together and
genuinely put the interest of the county first. I learned about the roles of dietitians
in the county and all of the different jobs and tasks they can have. I have improved
my public speaking skills by talking in front of different groups during this rotation. I
learned a lot about the people in Marion County that need these benefits the health
department provides and how important the health department workers are to
these certain people. My organizational skills were developed during this rotation by
staying on track with tasks and making the most of my time in this rotation.
2. How would you evaluate your ability to function as a dietitian in this area of
practice? What are some of your strengths? What are some aspects that may
entail further growth?
I would evaluate my ability in this area of practice as proficient. I am going to be
working for the Marion County Health Department as a WIC dietitian and I think my
manger saw my potential in this area as proficient. My strengths are using my time
wisely and prioritizing my tasks to the best of my ability. I think I still need to work
on my oral communication skills and when I start working I think they will improve.
3. Which experiences in this rotation were most beneficial?
The most beneficial experience during this rotation was getting to work with lots of
different people in the health department and see what they do. It was great to see
how all of the employees and programs work together for the better of this county.
4. What suggestions do you have to strengthen the experiences for this rotation?
January 2016

I think it would be beneficial to observe different WIC offices. I got to see one WIC
office for half of a day but I think it would be great to go to a few different WIC
offices around the county to experience the different dietitians and populations.
5. Do you have any concerns at this time?
No I do not have any concerns.
