First of the Rural Dividend grants awarded

Under the BC Rural Dividend announced in April, the provincial government announced the recipients of the
project development grants (of up to
$10,000 each) to be used to promote economic sustainability, while contributing
to a communitys overall resilience and
liveability. Five communities in the
Fraser-Nicola region have received funding: Village of Cache Creek, Village of
Clinton, Village of Ashcroft, Lytton Indian Band & Nicomen Natural Resources
Management (Nicomen Indian Band).
Final decisions on Rural Dividend
project applications for single applicants
(up to $100,000) and partnerships (up to
$500,000) will be announced in September 2016. Locally, the Nicola Valley Community Theatre Society has applied for a
project grant.
A second intake of the BC Rural Dividend will run from Oct. 3-31, 2016. Applicants are advised to check for the updated
program guide online (www.gov.bc.ca/ruraldividend) in September, as eligibility requirements are being reviewed as part of a
continuous improvement process.
