Configuring NLB: we can add up to 32 CAS boxes in a typical NLB.

Ill demonstrate
you process of configuring NLB with two exchange 2013 CAS boxes .In my lab I have a
domain name configured to company.com. Well first install NLB on our 2 servers
named CAS1 and CAS2 and add proceed to configure further. I assume you already have
adequate entries of both CAS1 and CAS2 in your DNS

Enter name of 1st CAS box i.e. CAS1 in host filed

By default 1st server added is assigned the priority 1, you can modify this as per your
requirement

Herein you add a cluster IP address that shall be used in actual load balancing
process

Unicast : means you have 2 NIC in the box

Mulicast : means you have 1 NIC

At this stage we see status as waiting for pending operations this shall be good
when status notification indicator turns green

Once indicator turns green add a new host to cluster as shown in below screenshot

Specify the 2nd CAS i.e. CAS2 in host and continue

We see host has already been assigned priority 2. Hit next and Finish

While CAS2 is being processed by NLB at this stage we can proceed to create a new
host record and add a cluster IP address (IP address entered in NLB on page 4)

Hit Add host button

At this stage DNS manager looks as shown in screenshot

ON NLB we see both nodes are successfully added in cluster:

Bingo we are done
