Welcome to 7th Grade Life Science
CLASS GOALS
This class will show you how to develop as a thinker and develop different strategies for
learning science. It will help prepare you for high school science classes. Every assignment is
designed to develop important characteristics of the scientific mind: curiosity, creativity, and
confidence. You will build up these characteristics through reading and study, writing and
drawing, hands-on demonstrations and experimentation. You will be required to engage in
group activities, as well as independent research. The goal of this class is to help you learn
effectively, learn to work with others and by yourselves, think like scientists and learn to love
science! Lets have fun and learn a lot!

90-100% = A

80-89% = B

70-79% = C

WORK HABIT GRADE

E = 0-3 missing/late assignments

60-69% = D

0-59% = F

PARTICIPATION GRADE
E = 0-3 tardies/unexcused absences
S = 4-6 tardies/unexcused absences
U = 7 or more tardies/unexcused absences

Science Binder
Your binder is very important and accounts for 30% of your class grade. The binder must be
used for Science only. The class builds on itself and this binder will help you stay organized
and focused throughout the year. I will periodically (and randomly) collect and grade your
binder.
MAKE-UP & LATE WORK POLICY
If you have an excused absence, the number of days you have to make up any missing
assignments or quizzes is equal to the number of days you were absent. It is YOUR
responsibility to find out what you missed. If your absence is unexcused or you forget to turn
in your homework, your score for the assignment will drop one letter grade for every day it is
late.
EXTRA HELP FROM MS. NAVARRO
Available after school for tutoring and homework help: Mondays and Wednesdays until 4pm.
