Abstract Submission Instructions

Please read through the submission instructions listed below before preparing your abstract:
Step 1: Read the Policies and Requirements for the submission of abstract/paper.

Step 2: Download the 20AFMC templates (from http://afms.org.au/20AFMC/abstract.html),

write/edit your abstract following the format & layout guidelines provided in the Word
template and save it as a .doc (or .docx) file.
Step 3: Go to http://afms.org.au/20AFMC/abstract.html to complete the Abstract Submission.
It will be necessary to attach/upload the Word (or pdf) copy of your abstract.

Acceptance of Abstract
Notifications of acceptance will be sent via e-mail to the submitting author by 17 June 2016.
Following the acceptance notification, all accepted authors will be required to submit a full
paper by 12 August 2016. Further details will be available in the notification email.

Policies and Requirements for submission of abstract/paper

All submissions of abstract/paper must be original work.

An abstract must contain sufficient information so that if published it will be a complete

report independent of paper and presentation. The text should not contain statements
alluding to results or conclusions not presented within the text.

Submission of abstract/paper acknowledges consent to publication of the work in the

Conference proceedings publication.

All submissions of abstract/paper must be completed electronically via the online

submission facility. If you are unable to submit in this manner, please contact the Local
Organizing Committee at 20afmc-ceme@uwa.edu.au for further information. The Local
Organizing Committee will not be held responsible for submissions not received via the
website or for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software
delays, power outages or unforeseen events. However, once your submission has been
received you will be notified.

All submissions must conform, at time of submission, to the conference Format and
Layout Guidelines. Please use the official 20 AFMC templates (Word Template only for
abstracts, either Word Template or LaTeX package for full papers; available from
20afmc website) for your submission. Abstracts and papers, when properly formatted,
must not exceed the size limits stated in the guidelines, which is briefly listed here for
your convenience.

Brief guidelines
300 words; the abstract must include the paper
title, all authors and co-authors' names,
affiliations, full addresses.
4 pages, including all text, references, appendices,
figures and any others.
8 pages, including all text, references, appendices,
figures and any others.

There is no limit to the number of abstracts/papers that may be submitted by an

individual. However, splitting of a body of work into multiple ones is discouraged and
consolidation into one submission is preferred.

Once accepted the presenting author will be required to register for the Conference in
order to ensure their submission(s) is included in the final program.

All authors of accepted papers are required to submit a copyright transfer form (this will
be made available via the conference website in due course) for their manuscript to be
included in the 20AFMC proceedings. Without the signed copyright form your paper
will not be published.

Guidelines for presentation

Please prepare a presentation with a title page. You presentation may contain a number of
different slides: i.e. background, rationale, materials, methodology, results and major
conclusions. It may also contain animations and video clips. Use appropriate font size for each
slide. Limit the number of slides in such a way that you can finish your talk within 12 minutes.
Keep 3 minutes for discussion on your presentation. The session Chair will keep count of the
time limit and remind the presenter with a call bell (or similar). Immediately after the end of
the presentation, a discussion session will commence. In the discussion, the audience or the
session Chair can ask you questions regarding your presentation.
