II. Parking
If you are coming by car, parking is available to you for free. You may park in the Atlantic
parking lot. As you come down Loring Ave, you will see the parking entrance it is not well
marked, and comes up suddenly, so be alert. You will see the Enterprise Building directly in
front of you as you come into the lot. Try to find a space to the left of that. Your vehicle will not
be ticketed or towed, as long as you are parked in an unmarked spot. (Cars are convenient to
have during the week for quick trips to e.g. grocery store, but not absolutely required, as you can
often car pool with others; also, we provide group transportation to the scheduled field trips.)
III. Housing
Participants will be staying in a suite on the second floor of Viking Hall, at Salem State
University. Each suite has two rooms, and each room has its own A/C control. You could, of
course, just open your window to cool down the room, but be advised that if you turn the AC off
completely, it will take a day to re-activate. You may want to bring warm clothing in case the air
in your suite/room proves too cool for you. The suite, then, includes two single rooms, one
bathroom, one shower-room, two sinks, a mini-fridge and microwave. We will be housing two
participants per apartment, one in each room.
There is a kitchen on our floor, which has a, sink, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave.
Kitchens are otherwise unequipped. Bags and trash bins are provided in each room; there are
trash- and recycling bins on our floor.
The beds are extra-long twin-size: 36x75x6. Linens are provided (in particular, the
following are provided: (a rather thin) blanket, bedsheet, pillow, pillowcase, towel, washcloth),
but you may nevertheless wish to bring your own.
IV. Laundry
There are laundry facilities on the first floor. The laundry machines are coin-operated, and $1.50
per wash, 1.50 per dry. Two washers and dryers are free after 3:00pm, specifically, those whose
LED displays are switched off. I am told that there arent places in the Hall to get change. So
you should bring quartersand detergent.
V. Internet
Each participant will be forwarded/given instructions on how to access WIFI.

Are you home yet?
Explanation:
Dinner on the first night, Jul. 26th, and breakfast on the first morning, Jul. 27th, are provided by
CB Staff.
After the morning of Jul. 27th, participants will have breakfast on their own, and enjoy free coffee
and tea in Bertolon Hall.
Cenae Communes: dinner on Jul. 27 and Jul. 31 are pot-luck style: CB Staff provide the
entre, and suites will pair up, with each suite-pair providing one of either drink, dessert, or side.
Optional Catered Meal: We will have sent out a Google Form to you, on which you can opt in to
a catered meal. To subvent the cost for each, we ask that you contribute a symbola of 5.00 USD,
payable on-site. If you do not opt in, you will be responsible for finding grub on your own:
some participants, for example, may want to eat out together on these nights.
There are dining facilities on campus, with limited hours. You can find University eateries and
schedules at this website, http://www.dineoncampus.com/salemstate/. For at least some of your
meals (breakfast and lunch), and for the pot-luck, you will need to go off campus for
supplies/groceries. There are two supermarkets within three miles from campus (a Shaws and a
Market Basket), and there are a number of eateries nearby, some of them along Lafayette, Loring
and Canal Streets. Do remember that the floor kitchens and the suite are unequipped, and
so you will need to bring utensils/supplies with you if you wish to do your own (very basic)
cooking. Since there are no stoves or ovens, you do not need to bring pots, pans, etc.
VIII. Dress:
Summer casual. You will also want to bring beachwear, for our trip the Salem Willows
(http://www.salemwillowspark.com) and comfortable shoes.
