INTRODUCTION
BBA degree courses are designed to facilitate students in acquiring knowledge and skills for their professional
development in the field of business administration. Apart from the academic study, we make efforts that our
students understand real world environment of the corporate sector in order to prepare well trained professional
managers. Students who have successfully coursework requirements of BBA degree programs of Business
School, University of Central Punjab Lahore are provided an opportunity to join internship program. These
exploratory academic activities are developed in such a way that they will enhance students understanding of
the corporate business and industry conditions. Students come across directly with situations of the business in
identification of problems and to apply academic knowledge and techniques got through BBA coursework for
analyzing causes and to suggest solutions. Students are able to know insight of problems through interaction
with managers who take decisions under competitive pressures. In this respect internship becomes a firsthand
learning tool helping students to become familiar with environment of corporate world in which they would
assume responsibility as business managers.
The internship guide describes objectives of internship program and schedule for preparation, presentation and
submission of internship report. It also explains role of internship advisor and duties to be fulfilled by the
students.
INTERNSHIP OFFICE
An internship office has been established to assist students and to monitor their working on internship. The
internship advisor will:1. Help students in selection of area of interest.
2. Guides students during their work on internship.
3. Receive each internship offer letter and maintain record.
4. Monitor periodically status of internship.
5. Supervise/guide students for preparation of draft report and final report.
6. Ensure that draft report is submitted according to notified schedule.
7. Coordinate viva of internship report.
8. Receive, evaluate internship report and coordinate for awarding a grade.
BBA INTERNSHIP
Internship is the terminal point of the degree requirement. It provides to the internee an opportunity to utilize
resources at workplace that may lead up to successful job placement in the same organization. The role of the

student during internship is multi-faceted. During this stay in the employer company an internee is expected to
be the representative of the University of Central Punjab. He is anticipated to act in a professional manner. As
such he is expected to uphold high standard of conduct. He should be punctual, conscientious, reliable and
distinguished. He must meet expectations of his manager and the employer company.
OBJECTIVES
More specifically, objectives of internship program are to:

Understand dynamism of regular business processes.

Apply into practice skills acquired during BBA degree program.

Develop ability to work with others in an actual business environment.

Offer initiative and creativity in problem solving and decision-making.

Improve oral, written and presentation skills.

Internship Report Procedure


DURATION / COMPANY PROFILE
Students will obtain internship for a period of at least six (6) weeks at a stretch in a business entity in Pakistan.
The internship is to be completed during the semester of registration and failure to do so will result in fresh
attempt in next semester. It is therefore necessary for students to complete their internship before end of the
semester. Students can opt for an internship program beyond six (6) weeks, however all requirements of the
program have to be concluded before end of the semester. Internship report has to be submitted to internship
advisor by the date announced on UCP online portal.
The company in which a student opts to work should be a known company in the industrial sector of Pakistan.
(Prior permission can be obtained from internship advisor for internship opportunities outside Pakistan).
In case a student cannot place himself/herself in any organization, the university through internship office will
assist him/her in this regard. Students must get in touch with Internship advisor in case they are unable to find
an internship opportunity.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
It is highly recommended and appreciated that companies hiring services of students should pay stipend to
reasonably compensate students for services rendered for internship period.
ACTIVITIES PRIOR TO INTERNSHIP
Students will be required to complete following activities prior to internship:-

Complete registration process for internship within notified timeframe.

Attend orientation seminar and have meeting with internship advisor.


(Time and venue is indicated in the time table. For any special meeting, time and venue will be notified in
announcements section on portal.)

Submit required documents and obtain internship package from internship office.

Receive internship offer letter describing requirements of employer company and job responsibilities of
internee and submit a copy to Internship office of the university.

Start internship for period of at least six (6) weeks.

Obtain internship completion letter from employer along with employer evaluation form and submit to
internship advisor.

ACTIVITIES DURING INTERNSHIP

Perform professional jobs assigned by the company.

Try to achieve learning objectives and professional skills.

Maintain a LOG BOOK (hand-written) on daily basis for internship period. The log book will describe daily
activities of the internee. A log book or a dairy of related events will be maintained individually by all
students. The final report of student will not be accepted without submission of the LOG BOOK.

Log Book should contains day to day activities of the internee performed during 6 weeks of internship.

Maintain regular contact with advisor.

Submit the internship report to the advisor on due date.

REPORTS AND PRESENTATION


On completion of his/her internship period, every student is required to submit internship report, Log Book and
end-of-internship evaluation from his/her employer, to internship advisor of the University.
The contents of report will be, but is not limited to, the following:

Industry Profile

Company Profile

Company Business Processes

Company Departmental Functions

SWOT analysis of the company

Identification of plausible problem(s)

Recommendations for a suitable course of action

Conclusion

Bibliography

Appendices

Students are advised to strictly avoid repetitions, immaterial and irrelevant data in internship report.
Every student will appear for a viva of his/her report on notified date before a constituted committee of the
university. The student will submit Final Report (single copy) to Internship office prepared according to
following criteria on or before the last date for submission.
REPORT FORMAT
The Internship Report must be in a page limit of 35 50 pages, single sides, one and a half spaced with one
inch margins using a 12 point font. The executive summary, title page, table of contents, references, exhibits and
endnotes do count in page limit. Fancy titles and headings are not needed. The same font should be used for
headings, sub headings and main text. However, following font sizes should be used.

The report should look neat and very business-like. Each page should contain a header (name of employer
company/logo) and footer (University of Central Punjab). Report must be an original work of the student
and will be submitted to internship advisor. One additional copy should be given to the company.
Appendix A of the report must contain
a) Evaluation Form
b) A copy of Internship Completion Letter
Original employer evaluation forms (duly signed and stamped by the employer) and log book (handwritten) will be submitted separately with internship report.
