EvenwheninfusingtheprinciplesoutlineintheCatholicGraduateExpectationsintothe
StandardsofPractice,itwouldbedifficulttonoticemuchdifferenceinthetwo.Even
thoughthestandardsarefocusedaroundteachers,andtheirguidetobethebest
professionalsintheirvocation,theyessentiallyarestandardsgearedtowardswhatwe
wantinourstudents.VerysimilartohowtheCatholicGraduateExpectationsare

specificallycateredtowhatwewantinourstudents.Whatbetterwaytoachievethisthan
throughthementor?TheStandardsofPracticestatementwouldallbeinlightofthe
catholicfaithifitreflectedtheteachingsoftheCatholicChurch.Leadershipwouldbe
drivenbytheCatholicChurchexpectations,nurturingstudentstobecomecatholic
membersofacommunity.Thiswouldmeanourleadershipwouldneedtoreflectthis.We
asteacherswouldneedtobemoreinvolvedinthecommunityandchurchinour
community.Ourprofessionalpracticewouldalsoinvolvethatofthechurch.Wewould
needtohavemoredialoguewithGodandcommunicatethisdialoguewithstudents
throughmoreclassroomreflectionfocusedontheCatholicChurch.AsfortheEthical
StandardsfortheTeachingProfession,notmuchwouldchange.Care,Respect,Trust,and
IntegrityareallthingstaughttousthroughtheCatholicChurch.Wearetaughttoshow
compassionforeachother,respectoneanother,anddemonstrateintegrityinourlives,
throughourprofessionalcommitmentandresponsibilities.
