HERE WE COME!

PASSION, INTEGRITY & APNAPAN

Dear All,
It is a moment of double delight as Australia stands at 10th position among all nations in Olympics
while Pakistan is at the top of world test ranking in cricket. We will now be eagerly waiting for the start
of summer when Pakistani cricket team visits Australia. The tickets are now on sale so get the Pakistani
enclosure fill with the cheers for the visiting team.
As for your Group Updates, we will have Eidul Azha Barbecue on Eid Day at Kings Park (Synergy
Parkland) 4 pm onwards so save the date.
As part of annual program, we have submitted the Seniors Week Grant for our annual poetry event on
12th November.
Finally thanks to all of you who came for the Prayers at the Perth Mosque for Quetta victims with
special thanks to Mr. Nadeem who provided Krispy Kreme Donuts for the community.
We are still receiving correspondence related to issue with Perth airport from those who work at the
airport and will be in touch with the Executive director of the airport soon. What is worse was a
personal communication from one of the food outlets stating that although the food is halal the outlet
does not want to publicize because of increasing Islamophobic sentiments.

PRESENTATION AT AUSTRALIAN WOMENS AND GENDER STUDIES BIENNIAL

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE, BRISBANE 2016
Dr. Sadia Shaukat presented her research at the conference in
July, 2016. The study was carried out to investigate the female
students and faculty from different districts of Punjab regarding
problems after joining a profession. It was hypothesized that
there would be significant impact of demographic variables
(semester, district, discipline) on the views of female students
and faculties regarding the professional problems faced by
women after joining a profession. Data were collected from
students and teachers on the Scale for Womens Professional
Problems after Higher Education (SWPPHE). Results indicated
that women suffered challenging situations due to cultural
barriers in their professional work places. Women reported
problems which would be significant causes to quit their job,
such as pressure from the family and other social problems at
home; doubt about the nature of the work they are doing; an unsuitable work place and a lack of
recognition of their efforts. These cultural barriers are deeply rooted in the gender inequality of a
chauvinistic society, which severely hinders female empowerment.
