9 Cf. Heidegger: Por toda a parte, assegura-se o controle. Pois controle e segurana constituem at as marcas
fundamentais do desencobrimento do explorador (...)
(Heidegger: 20-23).
Foucault: The apparatus is thus always inscribed into a play of power, but it is also always linked to certain limits
of knowledge that arise from it and, to an equal degree, condition it. The apparatus is precisely this: a set of
strategies of the relations of forces supporting, and suported by, certain tyes of knowledge. (Michel Foucault.
Power/Knowledge: Seleted Interviews and Other Writings). Agambem: Let me briefly summarize three points: a.
It is a heterogeneous set that includes virtually anything, linguistic and nonlinguistic. under the same heading:
discourses, institutions, buildings, laws, police measures, philosophical propositions, an so on. The apparatus itself
is the network that is established between these elements. b. The apparatus always has a concrete strategic function
and is always located in a power relation. c. As such, it appears at the intersection of power relations and relations of
knowledge. ( Giorgio Agamben, What Is an Apparatus? and Other Essays).
The brain and the its neural-synaptic structure which we will see are active and passive
participants in this process. Culture is in a constant state of transformation as it responds to a
constantly mutating milieu determined by the above mentioned relations in a constant state of flux.
The transformation of culture induces pressures to produce new kinds of technologies to make it
operate more smoothly and coherently () photography, cinema and most recently virtual reality
have redefined the cultural context from one defined by stasis into one defined by dynamism: a
dynamic state in which space and time relations are redefined. It is this dynamic image, which
adapts itself ever more adequately to the neuro-anatomic and neuro-physiologic specificities of
brain function, such as oscillatory potentials on the one hand and reentry on the other () In fact
as these new time based relations become configured in the physical world they become remapped
into the way neural networks are configured, their spatial relations, and how they operate and
communicate to each other through these temporal relations. (Neidich, 2003)10

No fim, o crebro
um novo crebro esculpido, the cinematic brain and the person who is the carrier of such a brain
The Mutated Observer (Neidich, 2003, p.9).
nestas hipteses: Blow-up (1966, Michelangelo Antonioni), e Memento12 (2000, Christopher Nolan),
mas poderamos tambm juntar Inception13 (2010, Christopher Nolan), Matrix14 (1999, The
coincidem e so consumidos, difundidos e trocados globalmente (Crary, 1992, p. 2).

11 Visual ergonomics is a term that defines a composite of strategies through which nature is represented in the nonplastic art and is reformed and organized according to implicit and explicit knowledge of neural processing whereas
cognitive ergonomics relates to the way that artificial information is reconfigured for the process of cognition
occurring in the brain () Cognitive ergonomics is especially important in the creation of virtual reality programs
as the need for information parsimony is the greatest. In the desire to create a sense of real space virtually with the
extant technology now at hand it is more important than ever to know the specific proclivities of the nervous system
so that programs can use the limited technology to the greatest effect conserving weight and space in these
applications. (Neidich, 2003, p. 25)

16 During the first few decades ofthe nineteenth century a new kind of observer took shape in Europe radically
different from the type of observer dominant in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries () the most pervasive
means of producing "realistic" effects in mass visual culture, such as the stereoscope, were in fact based on a radical
abstraction and reconstruction of optical experience, thus demandinga reconsideration of what "realism" means in
the nineteenth century. (Crary, 1992, pp 6-9)
filme com Daniel Lopatin, Sticky Drama : The theme of loss permeates all my work to some degree. Remember
Carthage (2013), You the World and I (2010), Codes of Honour (2011), and A Man Digging (2013) deal with it quite
directly. Its a theme I come back to again and again; whether it be the loss of history, the loss of subcultures, the
loss of love, or the loss of memory. When it comes to data loss specifically, on one level I think I am attracted to it
simply because it a very relevant and timely fear to which we all can relate. In Sticky Drama in particular, I wanted
ligaes menos 'provveis'. O crebro o volume espacio-temporal: incumbe arte traar nele
novos caminhos actuais. Podemos falar de sinapses cinematogrficas , raccords e falsos raccords :
so diferentes, como os circuitos so diferentes em Godard e em Resnais. A importncia ou
alcance coletivos do cinema parecem-me depender deste gnero de problemas. (Deleuze, 2003, p.
89-90)
mediao tcnica e operaes cognitivas (vide Neidich: ergonomia visual e cognitiva) marcam o
criou outras camadas envolventes, as quais formam tambm diferentes paisagens visuais
hierarquicamente estratificadas: naturescape, urbanscape, mediascape, and cyberscape (Neidich,
assemblage of organic human beings (Dewey,1929, p.175).

darwinismo, etc.

cabalmente a sua eficincia.
