Dear Parents,
Welcome to Sierra Vista Middle School. Thank you for taking the
time out of your schedule to read this syllabus, sign it, and return
it to me with your child tomorrow.

Textbook Each student will have his or her own consumable math
textbook. In addition to writing in their textbook, practice
worksheets will also be given as homework.
Homework Policy Assigned DAILY and due the following day. Late
work will be accepted, but is more beneficial if completed BEFORE

the unit quizzes or tests since homework is essentially practice, to


gain improvement and/or mastery of skills.
Absences Regular daily attendance is a MUST in math, as each
lesson builds on prior knowledge. Absent students are
encouraged to either phone a friend or call me so they will be on
track when they return. Please send a note if your child is absent.

School Rules
1). Be on time, with proper materials. (Homework is considered
proper materials)
2). Participate positively in the teaching and learning
environment.

E. Do not disrupt learning.
3). Appropriate conduct required. Follow all rules/policies as
stated in the agenda book.
Discipline Program Students receive infractions on their
communication card for violating the above stated rules. Every 4

infractions will result in a more severe consequence, such as a 30


or 45-minute detention, Saturday school, suspension, etc.
Agenda - Kept with student at all times in their binder. It is used for
writing down daily homework, upcoming quizzes and tests, longterm project deadlines, important dates to remember, and as a
communication tool between parent and teacher.
Progress Reports Handed out to students every 4 to 5 weeks.
