There are commonly six different types of architects. The six types of architects are;
Residential Architects, Commercial Architects, Industrial Architects, Landscape Architects,
Interior Design Architects, and Green Design Architects. Residential Architecture is one of many
fields of architecture. Residential architects sketch the layout of houses, apartments,
condominiums, etc. Residential architects have a busy schedule throughout the day, even though
the pay is really good. If an architect is self-employed the schedule could be flexible. In order to
become an architect there are many steps to take when in high school such as preparation and
learning the useful traits of everyday life. Architects spend a long amount of time in collage.
They also have to spend time in training and have to be an intern before they can do it on their
own. Architecture is not an easy field to get into; it takes patience, intelligence, communication,
creativity, and observance.

In the morning architects are always late because their clients are demanding. The clients
think it is an easy job to draw a layout but what they dont know is that its not that easy.
Residential architecture has a process of sketches, programming, detailing, editing, and
finalizing. Architects design sketches and have meetings with clients. They have to meet with
other coworkers to discuss layouts and other information. In the afternoon they grab a bite to eat
while sitting in the front of their computer, either programming a design into the computer or
sketching out a design. Eventually, when they get to go home or when their day is done they are
rushing to eat dinner, trying to finish up their work. Residential architects usually work in office
away from home; if they are self-employed they might work in their home. Just like any other
office an architects office is usually comfortable.

In order to become an architect, students must pass an accredited bachelors degree

program in architecture. If completing a masters program, it lasts about 3 years and requires
students to complete a thesis project and an advanced design portfolio. The BLS says that
architects are required to have at least, minimum, three years of experience before seeking
professional licensure. Architects are required to be licensed in every state. First, an architect
must pass the architect registration examination (ARE) to become a licensed architect, the ARE
has seven divisions of testing. Each of them must be taken separately and all must be completed
within five years. Second, an architect must complete an IDP internship. Most states require
architects to receive continuing education to maintain their license. Architectural programs
include courses on architectural history and theory, planning and construction materials. They
may also study computer-aided design, model making, and studio time drawing.

In two thousand fourteen, architects earned a yearly salary of $74,520 according to the
United States Department of Labor. An architect goes from preparing in high school to studying
in collage. From collage he/she must train and then becomes an intern. After experience as an
intern he/she then becomes an Architect. The benefits of this job are limited. This is a very
small field to get into because so many people are interested in this career; a person has to stand
out with great achievements and excellent accomplishments.

From twenty fourteen to twenty twenty four employment of architects is said to grow
seven percent. Competition for this job will be strong because the number of people that apply
continues to outnumber positions available. The most important part when applying for a job in
the architecture field is a portfolio. A portfolio is a collection of your best work or
accomplishments to show when applying for a job or even a collage. When coming into contact
with an architecture firm it should include a sample portfolio along with a cover letter and
resume.

To prepare for this career while in high school, take basic core classes, such as; English,
Mathematics, Physics, and History. Mathematics classes include; trigonometry and calculus.
Some classes to keep in mind when applying for this field would be debate, speech, art and
foreign languages. Art includes drawing and 3D design. Courses in business and computer
science would be useful as well. Anybody going to school to become an architect needs to learn
such traits like intelligence, observance, responsibility and self-discipline. Another way to
prepare would be to read about architecture, explore and look at details and designs of buildings,
draw buildings and layouts of homes you have lived in, Make things out of clay or would even
some legos, participate in your community.

A commercial architect is an architect who sketches the layouts for buildings, such as;
libraries, malls, schools, and churches. An industrial architect focuses on bridges and factories. A
landscape architect works with the outdoor layouts like parks, golf courses, and gardens. An

interior design architect focuses on designing the inside of a house or apartment. A green design
architect usually deals with building structures that may help the environment such as solar
panels and figuring out solutions to reduce energy costs.

There are many types of architecture. Residential architecture is a strong field to get into.
Residential architects have a good pay but a busy schedule. An architect like this needs a lot of
patience to deal with clients. Also, this career is a long line of preparing, training, and going to
school for quite some time. Just like any other career, an architect would need to have
intelligence, creativity, patience and other traits. Architects have many different jobs and some
may not even seem related to the field of architecture but they are. Like an interior designer who
designs the inside of a house doesnt seem like a career in architecture but it is. A green designer
seems more like an engineering career than an architecture career but an architect and an
engineer are similar in many ways. Basically, they both are building a structure the only
difference is the scenario. You can change an engineering scenario to an architectural scenario by
changing the view point of the problem and changing a few words.

1,012 words.
