Transcorp International gets RBI authorisation for semi closed pre-paid payment
instrument (PPI) service
New Delhi, August 29th, 2016: Transcorp International Limited, a BSE listed forex and money transfer
firm, has received the final authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for running semiclosed pre-paid payment instruments (PPI) service. The company received its in-principle approval
from the RBI in March 2016.
Semi-Closed PPI are payment instruments that can be used for purchase of goods and services,
including financial services at a group of clearly identified merchant locations/establishments which
have a specific contract with the issuer to accept the payment instruments. In addition to this,
payment wallets can also be created.
With this final approval from the RBI, the company is now able to issue and operate the said payment
instruments and create payment wallets including mobile wallets. Companies like Paytm, Oxigen and
Freecharge all use the PPI model for their operations.
We are now ready for running the semi-closed PPI service. Transcorp will now be able to enhance its
business opportunities in new areas. The team has been working dilignetly in preparation of the PPI
license and is ready with the portal - Transcash.money for this business activity and it will be
