Create-A-Country Project 2016

Introduction: Create a country of your own. Use your imagination. However, the sky is
NOT the limit. You have to abide by certain rules:
A. It must have all the elements of the State: people, government, territory and
sovereignty.
B. It must have a government which promotes a just and humane society. As such,
you are not allowed to create a country with an autocratic government or a
dictator/absolute monarch as your leader (among other things).
C. It must be an archipelago, NOT exceeding 500,000 square kilometers of land
area with archipelagic waters comprising not less than 25% of its total land area.
D. It must not occupy the territories of existing countries in the world.
Use the format and content quide as provided in the succeeding pages of this handout
for your final output paper. Use the questions/specific instructions as your checklist for
making sure that you have addressed all the necessary points for your country. If you
feel like there is a need to provide additional information to further improve your project,
please feel free do to so. Aside from the map of your country, you are also encouraged
to provide additional visuals as you see fit.
Note: As you complete the contents of your project, kindly replace the contents of each
section with your own content. Do NOT include the text of the questions and specific
instructions to your final output.

Map
You need to draw a map for your country. The map must have a key, a scale, a
compass rose, and any lakes, rivers, mountains, or other major physical features. They
must show at least one city or town - your nation's capitol. They should show land and
sea borders appropriate for an archipelagic state. They should be colorful, creative, and
neat.

Name and Etymology


What is the name of your country?
What is the origin of the name and the historical development of its meaning?

Geography
Where is your country located?
Show appropriate maps and describe your the territorial domains of your country
based on the national territory section of your State constitution.
Describe the physical geography of your country. Does it have mountains? Does
it have multiple regions?
Describe the climate and vegetation of your country. What kind of weather does
your country normally get? Is it cold and snowy? Is it dry? Is it a desert? Does it
have rain forests? Remember to take your countrys physical geography into
account when discussing its climate.
Discuss the natural resources found in your country. Do the people in your
country have an abundant energy source, or are they required to import it? Do
they have any resources to export? Do they mine for gold or diamonds?

History
Describe the history of your country in at least three paragraphs. Start with its earliest
history, and leading towards its founding as a country. Also discuss events which
happened in its immediate past.

Include applicable turning points such as revolutions, wars, elections, etc.

Politics
What kind of political system does your country have? Is it a republic or a constitutional
monarchy?
How are the powers of the government distributed? Is it separated among two or three
branches?
Is your country governed by one big central government or is it run by many smaller
governments at the local level?
Include the principles and policies of your countrys government as may have been
provided in the preamble of your State constitution and its section on principles and
policies of your state.
Who are the citizens of your country as provided in your legal system? Indicate the
regime of citizenship being applied by your government. Include information on how one
may acquire or lose citizenship.
Provide a list of rights and privileges guaranteed by your country to all its citizens. Also
include guaranteed rights extended to all the people living in your country either
temporarily or permanently. You may also choose to include a list of citizens obligations
to the State.
How is suffrage exercised by the people of your country? At what age are people
qualified to vote? Is voting required? What are the conditions (if there are) in which a
citizen may lose his right or privilege to vote?
Describe the chief executive of your country? What do you call the head of state and/or
the head of government of your country? Do you have some kind of a president as
head of state and government? Is it King-Prime Minister setup? Or is it some sort of a
President-Prime Minister arrangement? How are they chosen? What are the
qualifications for becoming a chief executive? If applicable describe their term of office,
and term limits.
What are the powers and privileges of a chief executive or executives? How about the
prohibitions and limitations?
Who assists the chief executive of your country in the performance of their duties and
responsibilities? Do you have some form of a cabinet ministry? What are the different
ministries or departments of the executive branch of your government? How are they
appointed? Do they need to be confirmed by the legislature?
What do you call the official residence or residences of the top people in your executive
branch? Where is it located?

Describe the legislative body of your national government? Does it have a unicameral or
bicameral structure? How are they elected? What is its involvement in choosing your
chief executive?If applicable describe their term of office, and term limits.

What are the powers and privileges of each member of your legislature. What are the
powers and privileges of your legislature as a body? How about the prohibitions and
limitations?
Describe the judicial branch of your national government? What do you call the highest
court of law in your country? Provide a description of your courts of law, its
organizational structure and jurisdiction.

How does your country conduct its foreign relations. If your country have important
agreement or treaties with other countries, include it here.

B4.4 Military
Describe the military of your country here. Does it have a standing army? What are its
strengths and weaknesses?

B4.5 Administrative divisions


The local government structure of your country goes here. Do they have equivalent of
Philippine provinces, cities or municipalities and barangays? What do you call their
executive officials and legislative bodies? If applicable, describe their judicial system.

Describe the economy of your country. How are goods and services exchanged in your
country? What are its major sources of wealth?

How do people, and ideas travel in your country? How do they travel to other countries?
