PEM Series NB/NC Manifold

Component SystemValves
The Modular Approach To Manifold System Design And Construction
The PEM Series NB Ball Valve is one component in a broad system including Check Valves, Diverter Valves and Modular
Fittings. Available in 1" thru 12" sizes with working pressures of
3600, 5000, 6000 and 10,000 psi and featuring quarter-turn shutoff, space saving design, blow-out proof stem, inline replaceable
stem packing, fire-safe design, and PEMs exclusive weather
seal on swivel connectors.
Series NB Valves accommodate Buttweld companion flanges, threaded ends
and spools to match API or ANSI flanges.
Utilizing weld-end connections eliminates the need for
companion flanges, saving weight and space.
Body materials include Full 17-4PH Stainless
Steel, Low Temperature Carbon Steel,

Carbon Steel, and Incoloy. Special materials and conformance to

NACE MR-01-75 are optionally available.
The PEM NB/NC System is designed for Production Manifolds,
Choke and Kill, CO2 Injection, Water Injection, Well Servicing
and Hydraulic Control.
All NB Ball Valves are equipped with body injection
fittings for routine maintenance and emergency
sealing, a removable bonnet design for replacement
of stem packing without valve removal, and all
components can be removed with minimum
line spread. Specify PEM Series NB/NC components for all your manifold
requirements.

Tailor Made...
Its easy to tailor fit a manifold to
your application by using
PEMs Integral Tees, Block Tees,
& a variety of End
Connections to
make construction
a breeze.
(See Back Cover.)

Body
Injection Fitting
The NB Ball Valve incorporates a body
injection fitting to allow for routine packing of
the ball cavity which extends the life of the
valve while reducing operating torques.
Temporary emergency sealant may also be
injected in the
event of seat or
seal failure.

PEM Exclusive
Weather Seal

Block
Body Design
The NB/NC Series utilizes a block
body design for smaller sizes.
See pages 6 & 7 for details.
2

PEMs exclusive Weather Seal is designed to

achieve maximum sealing protection from
atmospheric elements for swivel flange
connectors.

Positive Sealing
All envelope connections utilize a metal-to-metal primary seal
with a secondary o-ring seal assuring leak proof and fire-safe
performance. The security of this feature comes at no extra cost.

PEM Series NC Swing Style Check Valves

Are The Right Choice For Positive Backflow Prevention.
The PEM Series NC Swing Style Check Valve is designed
to meet your backflow prevention requirements, even under
the most severe applications such as Production
Manifolds, Drilling, Well Servicing
and Hydraulic Control.

superior corrosion resistance in standard trim,

standard NACE MR-01-75 conformance, a replaceable seat
with Teflon sealing insert,
and a disc designed to swing
out of the flow path for minimal restriction of flow.

The NC Check Valve design

utilizes many of the
same features as the
Series NB Ball Valve
and is also available in
1" thru 12" sizes with
working pressures of
3600, 5000-6000 and
10,000 PSI. The NC Check
Valve also provides the same
fire- safe design as the NB ball valve at no additional cost, a Stainless Steel seat carrier and disc for

are of the same quality and variety
as the Series NB ball valves. The
NB/NC manifold system utilizes the
same end connections for NB Ball Valves as
well as the entire system for maximum compactness
and ease of construction (See back cover).

Compact
Lightweight Design

For maximum compactness, both NB and NC Valves were

designed to accept end connections which weld directly into the
flowline, eliminating the need for companion flanges, thereby
saving space and weight.

Replaceable
Seat Insert
A replaceable Seat with
Teflon Insert is
positioned in a metal seat
carrier, out of the flow
path, to assure drop-tight
backflow prevention. This
design protects the
resilient sealing insert
from premature wear due
to potentially erosive flow
path conditions.

Minimum
Line Spread
The Series NB/NC Valves were designed with repairability in
mind requiring minimum line spread for removal. Access to the
valve is quick and easy which reduces your system downtime.

*Torque values in the above list represent new valves with Acetal seats, properly lubricated
and tested with clean water as the flow medium. Add 25% for PEEK (HT4) seats.
Torque values for frequently operated (2-3 times per day) valves in dry gas or condensate
service are generally two times the listed torque. Actuator sizing torques for infrequently operated (one time per day or less) normally closed valves in dry gas or condensate service
should be four times the listed torque.

Method of Calculating Flow

The Flow Coefficient Cv of a valve is the flow rate of water
(gallons/minute) through a fully opened valve, with a pressure
drop of 1 psi across the valve. To find the flow of liquid through
valve from the Cv, use the following formulas:

Liquid Flow
QL = flow rate of liquid (gal./min.)
P = differential pressure across the valve (psi)
G = Specific gravity of liquid (for water, G=1)

Gas Flow
Qg = flow rate of gas (CFH at STP)
P2 = outlet pressure (psia)
g = Specific gravity of gas (for air, g=1.000)

atmospheric corrosion.

Block Tee Assembly

Integral Tee Assembly

All components utilize metal-to-metal primary face seals between the valve or block body and the end connections followed by a
o-ring secondary seal. All system components allow for removal with minimal line spread. Swivel flange connections incorporate
PEMs exclusive Weather Seal and conventional Weather Gasket. This two-step approach virtually eliminates atmospheric corrosion in the split ring, face seal and capscrew areas. Also a variety of End Connections allows unique flexibility in the design of
your manifold system. All PEM Series N Tee Assemblies and End Connection components are manufactured in conformance with
NACE MR-01-75 standards.
