Abstract

Asean is highly populated in term of demography. The region had more than 580
million people with density of 130 people in mid year 2008, population density is
obviously high in mega cities which is approximately about 10,000 per people
square kilometre especially by increasing rural urban migration. Association of
Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was incorporated and established in 1967, it is
now has 10 member states which include Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam,
Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Phillipines, Cambodia and Brunei with a rapid
growth in population. Today, ASEAN is home to apprioximately 650 million people
and will continue to grow expectedly above 785 million by year 2050. The Asean
member state aims to enhance the quality of life of the population in member
countries, the well being, a good environment and a sense of unity for strong
cooperation in six areas which include development of human resources,
protection

and

social

welfare,

rights

and

social

justice,

environmental

sustainability, creation of Asean identity and reduction of the development gap.


A

communication

plan

is

needed

to

manage

and

to

achieve

mutual

understanding. Such plan will enable people of each country to communicate


and be well understood.

Therefore, Aseans activities can be of significant

benefit to all related country. Education is core to development to the


enhancement of Asean competitiveness, it was clearly emphasized that the
strategic of closer cooperation in education among Asean member countries. In
fact, education is play an important role in towards promoting Asean social and
economic development. In this paper provides the case study of how education
in all Asean member country can be enhanced by using GIS (Goegraphy
Information System) as an important tool. Several aspects in education
especially when it is involved in school placement activities, the use of GIS is
critical in order to achieve joint decision by all member country and to obtain
good and rewarding result.
