Theres a difference between a dance group and a dance ministry.

Anyone can form and join a

dance group. A dance group can be considered as a group of people coming together to dance.
However, a dance ministry is using our gift of dance to share the gospel or the good news of
Jesus Christ to the lost and to encourage, comfort, and edify the saints in the faith.

Liturgical Dance
Liturgical dance is a type of dance movement sometimes incorporated into worship services as
an expression of worship: the dancers will respond with an appropriate dance which flows out of
the music and is thought to enhance the prayer or worship experience.
When doing liturgical dancing, one ought to remember that God is the one who is getting the
praise. Were also trying to bring unsaved people to Christ. Remember when dancing, youre not
doing it as a show or to make people believe that you can dance. Youre doing it to glorify God
because He is the one who deserves the praise.
Scriptures: John 4:24 says God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in
spirit and in truth.
Colossians 3:23 says Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord,
not for human masters. This scripture goes to show that as a result of us doing the work for
Christ, we should push and do our best since He is the one getting the praise.

Dos and Donts in dancing:

Dos:

Always respect dance leaders.

Always show expression.
Always remember who youre glorifying and the message that you are trying to send.
Always stretch before doing a dance. Whether in practice or right before ministering.
Always pray before Ministering
Always pray before choosing a song to dance to.
Choose songs which would minister to individuals, not ones that just sound good or ones
that you believe would get a good response from the audience.
Always have hair pinned away from face when ministering.
Try your best to practice in socks or ballet shoes.
Always wear loose clothing during practices.
Always be on time.
If going to be late always tell dance leaders ahead of time to avoid confusion.
When choreographing, try coming up with moves that arent too worldly, especially when
doing liturgical dances.
When in practice dance as if you were ministering on the set day.
Try to have devotions in practices at least once a month.

Donts:

Do not sing while dancing.

Do not wear clothing that shows off the inviting parts of your body. (especially when
ministering)
Do not ever stop dancing when you forget a part of the dance.
Do not bow at the end of the dance. (It isnt a performance)
Cover up nails when painted once ministering.
Do not wear excessive make up when ministering.
