Math 7 Classroom
As an active learner, students will be asked to grapple with real-world problems using mathematical
concepts and theories. They will be in charge of their own learning experience by creating schedules,
choosing their own activities, and assessing their progress along the way.

Required Materials:

Scientific Calculator, Classroom folder, 3-ring binder, Loose-leaf paper or notebook for your binder,
Graph paper, #2 Pencils, Blue or Black Pens, Highlighters, Ruler, Eraser

Be prepared to begin class when the bell rings.

Come prepared to class with all materials and any homework that was assigned.
Always try to do your best and participate!
Be courteous and respectful to everyone in the classroom.
*Electronic Devices: Any electronic devices out in the classroom will be confiscated.
Cellphones should be put away and should not be out on the desk during class time.

Attendance: Regular attendance is vital in successfully completing this course. Students who are
absent from class are responsible for acquiring the information missed and will need to make up any
missed assignments or exams within the allotted time period.

Tardiness: Students who arrive to class after the bell will be marked as tardy for that class period.
If a student is tardy to class five times within a marking period, he/she will receive an office
detention.

Leaving Class: Students will be given 6 hall passes for each marking period. These may be used at
any time the student feels the need to leave the classroom.

Assignments (will be posted on class website for at home reference):

Daily homework- Students should expect to have homework every night to reinforce skills and
concepts learned in class. If a student does not have his/her homework at the beginning of class when
it is due, the student will not receive credit. Homework cannot be handed in late.
Long-term assignments- Students will have the opportunity to earn full credit for long-term

assignments that are turned in by the specified due date. Any assignment that is late will lose 20% of
the total points for each day that it is late.

Class Participation & Activity Lists: The Math 7 classroom is a hands-on, interactive
environment where students are responsible for their own learning. Students will be asked to
complete their activity lists by participating in group work, finishing individual work, and contributing
to class discussions. Students will also be responsible to attend mini-lessons or extra help sessions
when a topic or specific content is not understood.

Class Website: The class website will be updated daily with information regarding homework, long
term assignments, quizzes, and tests. Activity lists, activities, study guides, and other important
resources may be accessed through this site. The website should be checked regularly for information
regarding due dates and important updates.

Grading: Grades will be broken down in the following manner:

Homework Assignments: 10%, Projects: 20%, Quizzes: 30%, Tests: 40%

Extra Help: I wish for all of my students to succeed in this course! I am here to help and want to
help you. At the first sign of confusion or difficulty, please let me know and we will work through it
