MATINEE

(S.Shineberg)

Gothic heartache on an open page

Perfect romance playing on a stage
A non-paying audience forced to gaze
Upon a horror movie fiction
A kaleidoscope of sickly lines
A script so full of cheese that you could use a knife
To spread it out upon a water cracker
To be eaten cold with all the bullshit
Ive got a front row ticket to the daily matinee
And Im trying to find someone to scalp it to
I sit in the stalls most every night
And ask myself the same question
Is this the worst show ever made?
A B-grade line up full of nobodies
A plot so bad it feels like a disease
A run time of over one year at least
Surely the credits will roll soon?
You really dont care but you cant look away
Everywhere you look theres a screen on display
You might as well give in because its here to stay
Its into its four hundredth season
Ive got a front row ticket to the daily matinee
And Im trying to find someone to scalp it to
I sit in the stalls most every night
And ask myself the same question
