Mrs. Denise Hoff Welcomes You to Sixth Grade!

My Education
I have been teaching for 31 years, all in the Sioux Falls Diocese. This is my
28th year at Immaculate Conception School. I have taught every grade from
K-6. I have my Masters Degree in Administration.
My family
I am married to John for 32 years and we have four children and two
grandsons. All my children attended IC School K-6 and my oldest grandson
is in one of the 1st grade classes.
My Faith
I am a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.
I am a Eucharistic minister and a lector.
I was raised Methodist and converted to Catholicism in 1983.
I have faith. I believe in the power of prayer, miracles, the works of the
Saints, and being a good Christian.
Classroom
I believe that students, teachers, and parents deserve respect.
I believe a person must give respect to get respect.
I believe expectations teach and guide children to success.
I am present for students to learn, get extra assistance, become
independent and responsible learners, learn the importance of building a
relationship with God, and make good memories,
My Expectations
Students will be prepared for class: complete assignments, study for tests,
have basic supplies, be engaged in learning activities and discussions, and
to use work time wisely.
Students are expected to have positive behaviors: actions and words.

Students are expected to follow the schools dress code, especially for
school mass.
Students and staff are expected to wear any of the following items for their
mass attire: polo shirts with a collar; white, blue, or gold with a navy blue,
black, white, or khaki pants. The question has been asked if the students can wear
shorts at this time of the year. Yes, they can wear shorts that are navy, khaki or black
that are knee length. We have girls who like to wear a navy or khaki jumpers and that
works fine for mass.

I will e-mail a weekly letter.

I plan to be at school each day by 7:45 and will be there until at least 4:15,
so if students need help or have questions on assignments they are
welcome to come up to the classroom before 8:20 a.m. or stay after school
(with parents permission) for my assistance or for a quiet study time.
Infinite Campus: I will enter grades on a weekly basis. You will be able to
monitor your childs grades through the Infinite Campus portal. Information
about Infinite Campus is in your packet you received at registration in the
church hall.
