Finding Out Path In SPRO With Transaction Codes

Introduction
This document explains the basics & rationale of finding path in SPRO with transaction code.
Knowing Path in SPRO is always good as it can help in understanding configuration and we
can also see corresponding help documentation. We cannot find path in SPRO by using
search function as we can do in SAP Easy Access.
There are two main scenarios for finding Path in SPRO & they are:
Scenario A: Finding Path using transaction code SM30.
Suppose we want to find Path for transaction code OX08 - Maintain Purchasing Organization.
There are various steps that we need to follow & these are:

Step 1 Go to transaction code OX08

Step 2 Click on Table View & then select Print as per below screenshot.

Step 3 Copy View data as selected in below screenshot.

Step 4 Go to transaction SM30 and then enter view in the Table/View field as
selected in above screenshot. Click on Customizing & then Continue w/o Specifying
Project as per below screenshot.

Step 5 This will bring you to the Path corresponding to this transaction code as per
below screenshot:

And the corresponding Path is:

Enterprise Structure Definition Materials Management Maintain Purchaing
Organization.
Now a question arises in our mind how can we find Path by using the above steps?
With the help of below screenshots, I had tried to explain this. After selecting Maintain
purchasing organization, click on Edit & then select Display IMG Activity as per below
screenshot.

This will direct you to new screen. Click on Maint. Objects tab in the screen as per below
screenshot. We can see that View V_T024E is maintained as customizing object hence, we
can find path by using this in SM30.
Sometimes we have found that certain Views are not working in SM30. In that case we need
to go to transaction SE11 & then we need to check the corresponding tables by clicking on
the Table/Join Conditions tab. After that we can check by entering table in Table/View field
in SM30.

There is one more intresting observation but this is not valid for all.

We can see that last 4 characters of Display key IMG activity show the corresponding
transactions as selected in above screenshot but this is not valid for all.

Scenario B: Finding Path using transaction code SM34.

Suppose we want to find Path for transaction code OMT3B Define structure of Data
Screens for each screen sequence. There are various steps that we need to follow & these
are:

Step 1 Enter transaction OMT3B. Click on Table View and then select Print. Copy
View VCM_T133S as selected in below screenshot.

Step 2 Go to transaction SM34 & then enter view in View cluster field as selected in
above screenshot. Click on Customizing & then Continue w/o Specifying Project as per
below screenshot.

Step 3 - This will bring us to the Path corresponding to this transaction code as per below
screenshot:

When we checked Maint. Objects tab, customizing object is V_CM1 as per below
screenshot but the view that we had entered in SM34 is VCM_T133S.

We will again go to transaction SM34 & after entering view, click on Find Maintenance
Dialog as per below screenshot.

This will give two objects & as per further analysis, path can be found by entering both
the objects.

If we click on Display then it will redirect us to OMT3B transaction directly. And if we click
on Customizing then after clicking on Continue w/o specifying project, this will take us to
Path.
