1. Let us read and analyze Daniel 11:40.
2. When was the Time of the End? Daniel 12:4. Answer: 1798. Let us
confirm this fact.
3. After Daniel was told that the words, the end time prophecies, were
sealed until the Time of the End, he heard a conversation regarding the
Time of the End. See Daniel 12:5-9.
4. The Time of the End is connected to what time period? Daniel

persecuted Gods saints, for a time, times, and a half of time? Daniel
7:25.
Answer: The Papacy.
The special characteristic of the beast, and therefore of his image,
is the breaking of God's commandments. Says Daniel, of the little horn,
the papacy: He shall think to change times and the law. Daniel 7:25,
R.V. And Paul styled the same power the man of sin, who was to exalt
himself above God. One prophecy is a complement of the other. Only
by changing God's law could the papacy exalt itself above God;
whoever should understandingly keep the law as thus changed would
be giving supreme honor to that power by which the change was made.
Such an act of obedience to papal laws would be a mark of allegiance

to the pope in the place of God. {GC 446.1}

6. Note: The Papacy persecuted Gods saints for a time, times, and a
half of time? Therefore, at the end of the time, times, and a half of time,
it is the Time of the End.
7a. How many years is time, times, and a half of time? Revelation

8. What year did the Papacy receive her deadly wound, when she
could no longer persecute Gods faithful people, which would conclude
the time period of time, times, and a half of time? Answer: 1798.
The forty and two months are the same as the time and times and
the dividing of time, three years and a half, or 1260 days, of Daniel 7 - the time during which the papal power was to oppress God's people.
This period, as stated in preceding chapters, began with the supremacy
of the papacy, A.D. 538, and terminated in 1798. At that time the pope
was made captive by the French army, the papal power received its
deadly wound, and the prediction was fulfilled, He that leadeth into
captivity shall go into captivity. {GC 439.2}

10. Who is the king of the north, which entity ruled the world until 1798?
Answer: The Papacy.
11. Who is the king of the south, which entity overthrew the Papacy in
1798, the Time of the End? Answer: The two controlling principles that
governed the nation of France, especially during the French
Revolution.
12a. What were the two principles that ruled supremely in the nation of
France, during the French revolution when the Papacy was overthrown?

Answer: The atheism of Egypt and the licentiousness of Sodom. See

Revelation 11:2-8 and The Great Controversy, 269.2 to 270.1.
12b. Note: The nation of France legislated atheism and licentiousness.
The nation of France enacted a law stating that there was no God, also
that the practice of Sodomy was the national religion.
13. Although the Papacy lost her power to rule and to persecute
Gods faithful people who refused to bow to false worship, will she
rule the world again? Answer: Yes! See Daniel 11:40,41.
14. Which country will the Papacy control first, in order to make her
return to world dominance? Answer: The United States of America.

15a. Note: In the prophecy of Daniel chapter 11, the United States of
America is called the Glorious Land. See Daniel 11:41.
15b. The unrivaled mercies and blessings of God have been
showered upon our nation, it has been a land of liberty, and the

15c.In the seventeenth century thousands of pastors were expelled
from their positions. The people were forbidden, on pain of heavy fines,
imprisonment, and banishment, to attend any religious meetings except
such as were sanctioned by the church. Those faithful souls who could
not refrain from gathering to worship God were compelled to meet in
dark alleys, in obscure garrets, and at some seasons in the woods at
midnight. In the sheltering depths of the forest, a temple of God's own
building, those scattered and persecuted children of the Lord assembled
to pour out their souls in prayer and praise. But despite all their
precautions, many suffered for their faith. The jails were crowded.
Families were broken up. Many were banished to foreign lands. Yet God
was with His people, and persecution could not prevail to silence their
testimony. Many were driven across the ocean to America and here
laid the foundations of civil and religious liberty which have been

the bulwark and glory of this country. {The Great Controversy, 252.1}

16. Note: Daniel 11:40 states that the king of the north, the Papacy, will
return against the king of the south as a whirlwind. Bear in mind that the
king of the south represents the two principles that reigned in France
during the French Revolution. Since the Papacys wound will be healed
in the United States of America, then the condition of America just
before the Papacy returns to world dominance will be similar to France,
during the French Revolution.
17. Note: Satan works through both the king of the north (the Papacy)
and the king of the south (atheism and licentiousness). Once Satan
uses the principles of the king of the south to his advantage to destroy
faith in God and to destroy the morals of society, he knows that there
will be a reaction. The reaction is that people will then begin to cry out to
God. When this point is reached, Satan will inspire the people to support
and legislate righteousness in the nation, by enforcing Sunday
observance by law and persecute people who refuse to yield.
18a. Consider that when law-makers legislate immorality, it can only be
reversed by legislating morality.

Yet this very class put forth the claim that the fast-spreading
corruption is largely attributable to the desecration of the so-called
Christian sabbath, and that the enforcement of Sunday observance
would greatly improve the morals of society. This claim is especially
urged in America, where the doctrine of the true Sabbath has been most
widely preached. {GC 587.1}
They will lament the great wickedness in the world and second the
testimony of religious teachers that the degraded state of morals is
caused by the desecration of Sunday. Great will be the indignation

excited against all who refuse to accept their testimony. {GC 590.2}
19. Is the condition of the United States like Sodom and Egypt, like
France during the French Revolution? Answer: Yes!
