Artocarpus champeden stembark (Moraceae) in Indonesia well known as
cempedak had been traditionally used for malarial remedies. Several studies reported that this plant had in vitro and in vivo antimalarial activity but there was no report about in vitro toxicity. The different of growth locations could cause the different of metabolite profiling. As a consequence, there were different toxicities in spite of from the same plants. The aim of this research was to obtain the profile of metabolites that contained in A. champeden stembark from different locations in Indonesia for safety purpose of this extract. The profiling had been performed by HPTLC-Densitometry technique and toxicity had been also determined by MTT-ELISA technique. The correlation between metabolite profiling and toxicity had been determined by Principle Component Analysis, Hierarchical Clustering Analysis and Partial Least Square. As a result, there is correlation between the different metabolite profiling and toxicity from the same plant but different growth locations.
