Week 10 Handout Reading and Reflection

Name: Cabatic, Shane Ann G.

Directions: Answer the following items as you read and analyze 06 Handout 2.

What did you observe on the structure of the research questions used in the study?

-The research process usually starts with a broad area of interest, the initial
problem that the researcher wishes to study. The researcher has to narrow the question
down to one that can reasonably be studied in a research project. This might involve
formulating a hypothesis or a focus question.

How did the researcher apply the ideas Hermeneutic Phenomenology in the
study?

-First, the article discusses how the researcher oriented herself to the topic and
gives a brief overview of the historical background of hermeneutic phenomenology.
The research findings are used to illustrate how these concepts were applied. I hoped
that
somone should encourage other researchers to consider hermeneutic phenomenology
as a method in the generation of social work knowledge.

How did the researcher analyze the data?

-By the time you get to the analysis of your data, most of the really difficult
work has been done. It's much more difficult to define the research problem, develop
and implement a sampling plan, develop a design structure, and determine your
measures. If you have done this work well, the analysis of your data will be a fairly
straightforward affair.

How did the researcher arrive with the research findings?

-Why they arrive with the research findings? Its because people may have
discovered something different. We should outline what is new and how this
compares to what is already known. We should also attempt to provide an explanation
as to why your research identified these differences. We need to consider how your
results extend your knowledge about the field. Even though you find similarities
between your results and the existing work of others, your research extends
knowledge of the area, by reinforcing current thinking.

Do you think the researchers was able to apply Hermeneutic Phenomenology

accurately in the study? Why?

-Yes. Because the researchers can interrogate the person personally. And the
researchers can live with them for the mean time to know what hardships does the
person encountering in their lives.

Are there any other possible interpretations of the research data that the researcher
might have overlooked? Why?
-For me it's a no. Because I really don't know promised. I don't like using google,

that's cheating, hehe peace.
