INTRODUCTION

An organization, no matter how well designed, is only as good as the people who live and work
in it.

An organization is an entity comprising multiple people, such as an institution or an association
that has a collective goal and is linked to an external environment. The word is derived from the
Greek word organon, which means "organ.
The functions of organisation include planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling.
Other function includes defining the role of an individual, determination of authority, fixation of
responsibility, specialisation, coordination, proper utilisation of human resources, finance, sales,
marketing, administration and efficient functioning.
Every organisation belongs to certain sectors such as primary, secondary and territory. Primary
sector includes agriculture, mining, fishing, quarrying ,forestry, etc. secondary industry are
manufacturing industries which involve manufacturing of raw materials into finished products by
manual labour or machines. Tertiary industry sometimes referred as service industry which
provides service to people. The organisation study is conducted at Sintex India Ltd, Trivandrum
which belongs to secondary sector.
The study titled Organisation study conducted at Sintex India Ltd., Trivandrum with the
objective of sensitizing the nuances of the workplace and to understand the group process and
dynamics in organizations in first person perspective and for applying the concepts learned in
classrooms and develop a network of corporate contacts for future career enhancements
Sintex Industries (Earlier known as The Bharat Vijay Mills) has two divisions - textiles and
plastics. In the area of textiles, the company has been pioneers in high value fabrics. Its Plastics
Division started in the year 1975 and today it has most diversified manufacturing capabilities in
plastic processing in the world, with 10 plants spread across the country, more than twelve
manufacturing processes under one roof, having more than 500,000 Sq. meter area and a more
than 1000 strong work force. The company has also created extensive finishing, assembling,
metal fabrication and concrete products facilities. Combination of such varied capabilities along
with the companys state-of-the-art design and tool room facilities enables it to give vast array of
products and solutions.

The main products are water storage tanks(sintex water tanks, triple layered white tanks, loft
water tanks, reno water tanks, renotuf water tanks, reno g water tanks, reno coloured overhead
tanks, underground water storage tanks, FRP underground water storage tanks, PUF insulated
tank, SMC panel tanks), interior(factory made doors, plastic sections), electrical SMC,
environmental and green(waste bins and containers, sub ground structure, CSP, bio gas
plants),industrial(tanks, pallets, insulated crates, intermediate bulk containers, dryer trays),
prefabs(monolithic construction, prefabricated building, other range, prefabs for, sanitation and
standard applications. The areas they offer solutions are structured solutions, electrical solutions,
water management solutions, environment solutions, energy solutions, building and construction,
material handling, telecom solutions and industrial solutions. Their capabilities include
Thermoplastics, thermosets, sandwich panels, post moulding, mental fabrications, civil
engineering and concrete facility
The Indian plastics industry made a promising beginning in 1957 with the production of
polystyrene. Thereafter, significant progress has been made and the industry has grown and
diversified rapidly. Currently, the Indian plastics industry is spread across the country, employing
about 4 million people and over 2,000 exporters. It operates more than 30,000 processing units,
of which 85 per cent to 90 per cent are small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Lack of organization study will create a complication to an individual to reinforce the theoretical
knowledge to real world situations. It is the first ladder to success.

ABSTRACT
The internship of one month with Sintex industries Ltd. in Trivandrum is to sensitize the nuances
of the workplace and to understand the group process and dynamics in organizations in first
person perspective, moreover to apply concepts learned in classrooms to practical and to develop
a network of corporate contacts for future career enhancements. Sintex Industries Ltd. was
established in India in 1931. The Sintex group is one of the leading providers of plastics and
niche textile-related products in India. With global footprints spanning 9 countries, Sintex has a
strong presence in the European, American, African, and Asian markets including countries like
France, Germany and USA. The Indian plastics industry made a promising beginning in
1957 with the production of polystyrene. Thereafter, significant progress has been
made and the industry has grown and diversified rapidly. Currently, the Indian
plastics industry is spread across the country, employing about 4 million people and
over 2,000 exporters. It operates more than 30,000 processing units, of which 85
per cent to 90 per cent are small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The study focused

on descriptive research that provides an accurate picture of a particular individual, situation or


group. The types of data used are primary data and secondary data. Primary research consists of
a collection of original primary data collected by the researcher. Department structure, duties and
responsibilities of each department, SWOT are collected through the source. Common sources of

secondary data for social sciences include censuses, organizational records and data collected
through qualitative methodologies or qualitative research. Intern collected company profile,
industry profile, news and milestones through this source. . The practical knowledge and skill
cannot improve by the individual if there does not exist the organization study. Shortage of
Organization study may obstruct the individual to understand the organization policies, duties
and responsibilities of each department and also the culture of organization. Through internship,
they can achieve more in depth knowledge of the theories. It affords cherished experience that
can transform into full time work post- graduation. The study covers the areas such as company
profile, department study, products and services, SWOT analysis, news and milestones, industry
profile and internship activity. . An idea about the work performance is observed through the
behavior of the sales executive and the clients and prepared data accordingly. There are some
limitations in conducting the organization study at SINTEX INDIA Ltd. The method used for the
study is interview which may not be accurate. There are hitches in obtaining data from
executives and managers due to their busy work schedule. Sintex India Ltd. Is an plastic industry
and the departments include HR, Marketing, finance, production and quality control. The
organization consist of many products among this the main product includes storage tanks,
containers, doors, windows and plastic section. Intern identified the strength, weakness,
opportunity and threats of the organization. The internship activity include meeting the clients
and marketing the plastic doors of Sintex India Ltd.
