ELECTRICAL TOOLS AND EQUIMENTS

Electrical tools and equipments are needed to perform our job easier and faster.
Electrical task can be accomplished systematically to save time and effort and for safety.
Typical Pliers Used in House Wiring
Pliers are made in various shapes and sizes and for many uses. They are used for gripping
something round like a pipe or rod, some are used for twisting wires, and others are designed to
be used for a combination of tasks including cutting wire.

Combination Pliers (Linemans Pliers)

This is most versatile tool .This is used for gripping,
holding, and cutting electrical wires and cables and even
small nails.
Needle/long Nose Pliers
This is use for multiple tasks. They are great for
reaching dropped screws or to hold a screw for drilling.
Used for cutting and holding fine wires and also used in
making terminal loops copper wire

Diagonal Side Cutting Pliers

Is a wire-cutting pliers. Used for cutting fine,
medium and big wires and cables.

Types of Screwdrivers Used in House Wiring

Screw drivers are made of steel hardened and tempered at the tip used to loosen or tighten
screws with slotted heads. They come in various sizes and shapes.
Phillips Screwdriver
Is used to drive or fasten positive (+) slotted screws. It is screwdriver that could take
greater torque and could provide tighter fastening.

Standard/Flat Screwdriver
The blade tip is wedge shaped and resembles a negative (-) sign. This is used to drive
screws with single slot head.

Electrical Drills and Bits

Electric drills are equipment that is use to
make holes in buildings structures for passage of
conduit and wires. Also in tedious screwing jobs,
such as in construction or assembly.

Measuring Tools
Devices used for measuring various electrical aspects such as the presence and amount of
current, voltage, resistance and power through installation. Measuring these aspects is important
to determine if the electrical system is installed appropriately.
Ammeters
Ammeters are electrical instruments utilized to measure current in a circuit. The
evaluation it does in the flow of current is read in amps as the unit.
Voltmeter
Voltmeters are electrical devices that measure the voltage or potential difference between
two points in a circuit. The units of measure of voltmeters are expressed in volts.
Ohmmeter
Ohmmeters, which uses ohm as unit of measurement, are devices that measure the
electrical resistance through a circuit.
Multimeter

Electrical Tools

Multimeter are a popular type of electrical measuring instrument because of its

versatility. It works like an ammeter, ohmmeter and voltmeter for it can measure current, voltage
as well as resistance. Similar to other electrical measuring instruments, multimeter are available
in analog and digital types.

Miscellaneous Tools and Equipments

Electrician tool belt
This belt has a roller style buckle with 2
clips. It is padded around the waist which makes
this very comfortable to wear all day long. It has
plenty of pockets for all your tool needs.
Wire Strippers
This is use to strip the wire according to its size,
without damaging its copper or conductor.

Pull Push Roll

This is use for measuring length and distance

Safety Goggles
These are a important part of being safe on the
job. I like these full shielded safety goggles because the protect
from dust. Most of the time you are going to use these when you
are cutting conduit or hammer drilling and setting concrete
anchors.

Hammer
Have a good quality, 16oz. claw hammer.
You will need this for driving staples, nails, etc

Electrical Tape
Every electrical tool kit should have at least a roll of
electrical tape for insulating live wires.

Hacksaw
This tool is used to cut metal conduit and armoured
cables

Electrical Tools

Tool Box or Chest

You need something, even if its just a big pail,
to keep everything together, and to have a place to put
all your tools away. Its nice to have a good tool box
with many compartments to help tools be organized.
