United States Army Garrison Stuttgart

Chaplains Office
Newcomers Orientation
Welcome to USAG Stuttgart’s Religious Services!
One of the first things many military members and family members do when they
arrive at a new post is find a place of worship. In addition to the Chaplains and Chaplain
Assistants serving in our office, there are three chapels located in the USAG Stuttgart
area, all offering worship services with your spiritual needs in mind. In addition, we
have a new Family Life Center staffed by our Family Life Chaplain. We also provide a
full range of Religious Education (RE) programs for children, youth, men and women.

If you have special religious needs or a question about religious support, please call
the Chaplains Office at DSN 431-3079 or civilian 07031-15-3079. For the duty Chaplain
after hours, contact the Military Police Desk at DSN 430-5262 or civilian 0711-680-5262.

Become a Chapel Volunteer…We Need You!

VMIS REGISTRATION, APPLICATION AND HOURS ENTRY: Many Chapel volunteers are reluctant to register for, let alone report volunteer service hours for the time and talents they have
shared. Just the reward of giving is enough. A great number in our community are blessed by the service volunteers contribute. What you may not realize though is the number of volunteers and
the hours served directly impact the funds we receive from the Dept. of the Army and the Garrison. Especially in these tough economic times we cannot afford to assume these sources of funding will
continue as they have in the past. VMIS (Volunteer Management Information System) is one of the tools the Army now uses to access our financial need as a Chapel community. The more
volunteers and hours recorded in the system, the better it is for our Chapel community and the Garrison.

Everyone needs to get up to speed on VMIS! It’s a process to register but, those volunteer hours REALLY make a difference! It's like $19.77 per hour! And you can
always use this system at each duty station. It actually generates an official Army document that you can attach when you apply for jobs or college.
This is a 4 step process: REGISTER, APPLY,LOG HOURS & MAKE CONTACT. The first 2 steps should take you less than 5 minutes to complete if you follow all the
steps. Entering hours takes less than 2 minutes. Please be faithful to this system…it truly helps the Chapel to maintain and build facilities, hire facility coordinators, and
keep adequate staffing of Chaplains and Religious Educators. Thank you for your commitment and patience. We hope this step by step process helps you!
#1 REGISTER:
Please Note: At any time while navigating this site you may get a “certificate error” notice. Just continue on to the next page. The site is secure regardless of what the
message states.
Go to www.myarmyonesource.com Click on “Not a Member? Join Now” on the top right. Once that page loads, click on the RED # 1 “Join Now!” Fill out the application.
(Write down your user name and password so that you don't forget it. Also of note, this system only allows one email address per person, so you cannot register your
husband or child (for VBS for example) using the email address that you are using to register.) Click “Continue” and then you will be able to verify your information; then if
all is good, click “Register” You are now registered on the site with a password and user name. The next step is to apply.
#2 APPLY:
Click on “My AOS Page” at the top right. Once that page loads, click "Opportunity Locator" on right side in the “Volunteer Center” box. Under Military Community, “USAG
Stuttgart" will already be selected. Scroll down and click on “Organization” then find the “Chapel” program that applies to you, highlight it and click “Search” at the bottom
of the page. On the next page highlight the position that applies. If you are not sure just click “On Call Volunteer”. This will take you to “Volunteer Opportunity Details”.
Click "Apply". Fill out the rest of your profile and click “Submit”. You are now done registering and applying! When the OPOC receives your application, they will accept it
and then send you an email to let you know that you are in the system and can now enter your hours. (Note: Hours cannot be entered until you receive verification that you
are registered on VMIS.)
#3 HOURS ENTRY:
To enter hours at any time (preferably before the 5th of the month after your month of service), you go to www.myarmyonesource.com and click on “LOGIN” or “My AOS
Page” as both will take you to login page. (You may want to bookmark this page in your favorites before you enter your info for quick access in subsequent months.) Once
the page loads, click on “My AOS Page” and once this page loads go to “Recommended Gadgets” and click on “Volunteer Service Hours – Add Now”. In the left hand
column about half way down, click on the organization you are registered for and you will see a list of your hours, if any. Click on "add for open dates". A calendar pops up
where you can enter hours daily, weekly, or monthly. The system tracks hours monthly even though you may enter them daily. If you work 1/2 hour, you round up. When
you are volunteering, keep track from the time you start until you finish. Anytime you are in the business of volunteering, it counts towards hours and includes phone calls,
teacher/event prep, meetings, emails or any other activities related to your organization. You will see a pattern beginning to emerge for your position, and entering hours
will be a breeze and help in ministering to this community!
#4 CONTACT YOUR COMMUNITY CHAPEL POC: This is necessary to fill out and sign any additional paper work (ie; Child protection act form, background check, VBS
Registration) that may be required.
If you have any questions please contact:
Bill Agnew – Director of Religious Education 431-3084 william.agnew@eur.army.mil or
Laura Davis - Program Manager, AVC 431-3330 laura.jean.davis@eur.army.mil

On behalf of the Chaplain’s Office, USAG Stuttgart and The Army Volunteer Corps, We Thank You!
