Measurement principle
The hot line winding resistance measuring instrument mainly is composed of a measur ement
current output part and a voltage detecting part like other resist ance measuring instrument s.
However, it is designed so that it can measure r esistances, even if AC voltage is impressed
unlike other resist ance measuring in struments. Therefore, the filter from w hich AC current is
removed is inserted in the m
detecting part, a low pass filter to remove AC voltage so that DC voltage is detected.
Although measuring currents (DC) changes in accordance a range or models, it passes 50mA
- 0.05mA (superposition). This measurement current is fixed and flows only into a specimen. In
addition, since measurement cu rrent shunts toward the pow er supply side if DC blocking
capacitors are not inserted as in
measurement cannot be
performed.

VOLTAGE
The alternating voltage currently impressed to the measurement sample is displayed with the
actual value (RMS). The input impedance of AC voltmeter is approximately 10Mohm, and a
blocking capacitor for DC testing current is connected in series with the meter.
Cautions
While the voltmeter is pointing to a value, the corresponding voltage is generated at the tip of the measurement
probe. Do not touch a part for the metal department of the measurement probe with a hand. There is a possibility
of receiving an electric shock.
Since AC voltmeter has high input impedance, when a cable is long, it may cause error on measurement.

resistance and temperature value indicated are held, and measurement is stopped.
Operation
A key is pressed in order of F, 0, and ENT (also after a setup of initial resistance and
initial temperature, this operation can go int o this function), and ON of MEAS. is pushed an d
measured in t he state where LED of zero button is bl inking. Measurement is ended w hile
resistance (R) just before LED of zero button lights up and a sa mple is disconnected, and the
display of temperature (Tc) had held, when the sample was disconnected during measurement.
The measured value display at the time of a hold will be Hxxxxomega. Please press the key of
ESC, when you cancel a hold. in addition -- even if it pushes ESC -- the function of a function 0

function function should press a key in order of F, 0, and ENT, and should change it into the
state where LED of zero button has gone out.
Only while using the selection control box (DAC-SCB -2) of an option, the initial
resistance and initial temperature (ambient temperature) of all channels, which SCB
uses it, this function is effective and the values are taken in automatically.
Operation
SCB is connected to a sample in the state where voltage is not impressed, and a
key is pressed in order of F, 1, and ENT (LED of one button blinks). A range is chosen
automatically, all channels are switched and initial resistance is taken in. At this time, a
filter serves as NO HOT. After the above operation is completed, LED of F puts out the
light, it ends and LED of ON also switches off MEAS. SCB will be in a heat state.
Cautions
A function function cannot be set up while performing the time of measurement, and CAL (except a part

Delimiter
At the time of ATN = 0, the data sent out is called device message. The sign which shows the
end of a message is called delimiter, and the delimiter is chosen as either CR (0DH) or CR-LF
(0DH, 0AH) according to the controller which a user uses.
Moreover, an EOI signal is also effective.

Cautions
Although many interface functions of the standard, GP-IB, are defined, since it is impossible to take all
into consideration, the five above-mentioned commands is made the function to correspond by this
set.
Local state
When a power switch is turned on or a REN signal become "H", it will be in this state. In
addition, when a GTL (GO TO LOCLA) message is received, or when equipment's own local
switch is pushed, it will be in this state.
Remote state
In the state of remote one, it is locked except the local switch. If a local switch is pushed at
this time, it will return to a local state and will cancel.

Control code
A control code is restricted to the character string data based on the ASCII code shown in
the following table. Moreover, the multi-state command form of less than 255 characters is
also possible including a delimiter. In this form, when a delimiter is interpreted, a command
is executed. A command and commands is divided and input with

In order to change into a remote state, addressing as a listener is once required.
A local lockout is effective in a remote state.
If REN is set to 0 (H), a remote state and a local lockout will be canceled simultaneously.
An address command group (GTL, SDC) receives only the time of a listener state.

Interface RS-232C
DAC-HRT-1
Outline
RS-232C is one of the serial interfaces standardized.
(U.S. Electronic Industries Association) in the U.S. determined DTE (Data Terminal Equipment)
and DCE (digital circuit access and terminating equipment) in 1969 based on CCITT advice
(Consulting Committee of International Telegraph & Telephone) V.24 and V28.
An electrical property, the kind of signal line, mechanical specification (connector
specification), etc. are specified, and it is widely used as an interface for input and output of a
modem and a personal computer peripheral device.
Then, although standards, such as addition of a signal line, are revised and the official name
has become "ANSI/EIA-232-E", generally it is called "RS-232C" present still more.

Term
Full-duplex system
Two pairs of communication lines are formed and it is the communication system which
can transmit and receive simultaneously so that the data transmission of both directions may
be possible.
Asynchronous system
It is the transmission system which loads a start bit to the head and a stop bit to the the end,
and takes a bit synchronization for each character.
Start bit
1 bit as in the space state, "0", which transmit first is the signal called a start bit. It is
prepared in order to tell a receiving set about the communication start of data.
Data length
Data length is the number of data bits, and is usually 7 bits or 8 bits.
Parity bit
Parity is for inspecting whether data was sent correctly, when transmitting the data set to
communication.
Stop bit
After finishing sending the number of data bits, it is return to a mark state "1." Furthermore,
the bit showing the time which holds the mark state while data is continuing, and is for
obtaining the time when a receiving set performs data processing.
rate
It shows the maximum of the transmission speed of an interface, and is related to the
performance of both equipment to connect, and the characteristics of a communication
line. It is prescribed by the number of bits which can be transmitted and received in 1
second, and a unit is expressed with bits per second (bps).
Delimiter
The data sent out to a communication line is called data bit, and a character showing the
pause of a transmitting end or a code is called delimiter.
There are CR LF, CR, etc. in a delimiter.
Control code
About a control code, it is the same as that of GP-IB. Please refer to the GP-IB control code
table herein.
44
Interface RS-232C
DAC-HRT-1
The serial interface of this set is communicating with the software handshake system. In case you create a
transceiver program, please be sure to perform reception processing after transmitting processing of the
control code from a computer. On a program, even when unnecessary, after transmission, receiving data
should perform reception processing and should surely process canceling receiving data etc.

About the measurement probe
Be careful of handling enough about the probe for measurement of this measuring instrument.
When voltage is not applied to the measurement sample
Please push the MEAS button after fixing firmly on both sides of a measurement sample with the
measurement probe.
During measurement (the lamp of MEAS button is lighting), please do not touch the measurement
probe or do not remove the probe from a specimen. There is a possibility of receiving an electric
shock.
The MEAS. button of this measuring instrument can not turn ON/OFF of the
power supply to the sample.
When applying testing voltages to the specimen, after checking connection, please fix firmly so that
the measurement probe should not disconnected, and start measurement.
The voltage (AC) indicated on the voltmeter is applied to the both ends of a measurement probe
while the specimen is being applied with testing voltages -- be careful.
When DC cut capacitor (DAC-CHR-1B) is used,

that, when two digits are valid on measurement, even the instrument has a measuring error
within only one digit, the temperature equivalent had risen by as much as 23.5 degrees C to the
