Synthesis gas
Topse is a leading catalyst supplier for ammonia, methanol,
hydrogen, substitute natural gas, and other synthesis gas plants.
Each catalyst in Topses comprehensive portfolio is developed to
provide the best performance in the industry, which is confirmed by
feedback from numerous plants worldwide.
Feed purification
Topse offers catalysts for all the typical stages of feed
purification, from hydrogenation to absorption of sulfur and
chlorine as well as a final purification step. The key features of
the hydrogenation catalysts include an exceptionally high
activity and an optimized shape to provide the lowest pressure
drops in the industry. The desulfurization absorbent is
characterized by its purity, which is the highest in the industry,
resulting in the highest absorption capacity per volume.
Steam reforming
Todays highly efficient steam-reforming technologies require
catalysts that are able to withstand severe operating
conditions. Topse R&D has successfully addressed this
challenge in the development of reforming catalysts that excel
in both catalytic activity and in carbon resistance. The
appropriate combination of reforming catalysts is individually
selected to suit clients specific needs, whether it be
conventional tubular reforming, adiabatic prereforming, or
secondary and auto-thermal reforming. The catalysts can also
be selected to provide the lowest possible pressure drops with
minimum impact on catalytic activity.
Shift conversion
Topses portfolio of shift catalysts offer optimal performance in
the high, medium, and low temperature shift sections of a
synthesis gas plant. Of all the HTS catalysts on the market, the
Topse product contains the lowest levels of hexavalent
chromium and is therefore the safest choice, protecting both
employee health and the environment. Topse was the first to
introduce a series of products that specifically addresses the
challenges of MTS catalysis, resulting in excellent protection
against catalyst poisons as well as superior activity and thermal
stability. Topses LTS catalysts are characterized by their

Methanation
Topses methanation catalyst for ammonia and hydrogen plants is the most active
methanation catalyst on the market and has an exceptionally long lifetime.
Additionally, the ring shape of the catalyst provides the lowest pressure drop of any
methanation catalyst on the market. Available in a prereduced version, it can operate
at very low inlet temperatures, which results in considerable savings in energy
consumption.
Methanol synthesis
As a result of unique production methods using high-quality raw materials, Topses
MK synthesis catalysts are market-leading in activity, selectivity and stability. The
catalysts can be used in all types of reactor designs, such as the boiling-water reactor
and the multi-bed adiabatic reactor, cooled either by quench or by heat exchange.
Topses FENCE technology has led to further improvements to the catalyst,
providing consistently superior methanol production and reduced energy
consumption for the duration of its lifetime.
DME synthesis
Methanol can undergo dehydration to yield dimethyl ether (DME), a clean alternative
to fossil fuels with high energy efficiency and reduced levels of soot, nitrogen oxides,
and other pollutants. Topse offers licensed process technology solutions for DME
production as well as a catalyst with outstanding activity, selectivity, and stability.
Ammonia synthesis
Topses KM1 synthesis catalyst is used in the production of over half of the worlds
ammonia. The catalyst has the highest and most stable activity on the market, and
numerous clients operating with the KM1 catalyst have reported catalyst lifetimes
exceeding 20 years. The catalyst is also available in a prereduced version, which can
save valuable time during start-up.

Sulfuric acid
Topses VK series of catalysts has several different
formulations and comes in a variety of sizes and shapes to
provide optimal performance for all operating demands in any
sulfuric acid plant. Catalyst features such as outstanding
activity, low pressure drop and high strength will ensure a
cost-effective plant operation with high SO2 conversion
efficiency, low energy consumption, enhanced operating
flexibility and low screening losses.
The VK series consists of: multi-functional non-cesium
catalysts, cesium-promoted catalysts with exceptionally high
activity to reduce SO2 emissions and the LEAP5 technology
catalysts for ultra-low SO2 emissions.

Hydrocracking catalysts
Topses portfolio of hydrocracking catalysts is developed for diesel-selective
hydrocracking units. The hydrocracking catalysts consist of three series, which, in
combination with the appropriate Topse pretreater catalyst from the BRIM or the
HyBRIM series, have shown to provide a step-out performance compared to existing
hydrocracking catalysts in the industry. The RED hydrocracking catalyst series
provides exceptional middle distillate yields combined with excellent product
properties including high cetane number for diesel, high smoke point for kerosene
and high viscosity index for unconverted oil. The BLUE series provides an even better
middle distillate yield with superior cold flow product properties and the latest D-SEL
catalyst series, combining the best from the two other series with the highest middle
distillate yield.

Environmental protection
Topse is leading the innovation of catalysts and technologies
for environmental processes. Founded on fundamental and
applied research, Topse has developed unique technologies
and catalysts for efficient cleaning of off-gases from a wide
range of industries as well as of automotive diesel exhaust.
Topses wet-gas sulfuric acid (WSA) processes convert
hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide and organic sulfur compounds
in a variety of feed streams to commercial-grade,
concentrated sulfuric acid.
Automotive catalysts
Topse offers a wide range of catalytic products for the automotive industry. This
includes urea SCR catalysts with vanadium or zeolites as active material on a unique
lightweight coated fiber-reinforced ceramic substrate and a platinum-free catalytic
coating for diesel-particulate filters with NO2-reducing properties. All catalytic
products are backed by our know-how within system engineering and design and
our ability to carry out validation and application engineering in our engine lab.
Topses products, whether as stand-alone products or combined in the complete
exhaust after-treatment systems, comply with the most stringent future legislation
on automotive diesel-exhaust emissions.
