AIM:To study basic functioning of landscape lighting and to provide

conditions that approximate natural light.

OBJECTIVE:The objective of this dissertation is to achieve wide range of

effects with lighting and spread lighting to maximize the beauty.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION:Lighting can optimize outdoor spaces all year around. Proper
lightning has long been heralded as theft deterrent but it need not
be harsh or merely functional. There is scope of providing various
lighting effects like highlighting outdoor masterpieces, accent
lighting to create silhouettes and shadows.
This study is limited to detail study of electromagnetic spectrum,
eye performance and lighting criteria.

INTRODUCTION:-

The basic functioning of lighting is to extend the hours in the day.

Visible light is the light that our eyes detect; the aim of artificial
lighting is, on the whole to provide approximate natural light, so
that we can see objects at night as well as during the day.

HYPOTHESIS:The more elements that are lit, the more people will push the
edges of where a person will tend to gravitate to beyond the
interior of a house.
Pushing this boundary creates a visually striking look for the
outside of the house, especially when the interior lights are turned
off.
More than one light can be overlapped to create a continuous wall
of light that will subtly show the edges of a yard.

NEED FOR STUDY:Lighting in landscape is important because when it comes to

lighting outdoor spaces, most tend to think of simply illuminating
the exterior of a structure or property.
One of the most underestimated aspects of landscape lighting is
that it can actually extend living space physically as well as
visually.
Hence it will help in exploring new dimensions how to provide
better landscape features and discuss specific needs and desires
of the client in order to illuminate the most used sections.

4 Methods to conduct research:

This will comprise of 3 parts: Literature Study

Data Collection
Data Analysis

Literature study:
This literature study will be an abstract of the published and
accessible information pertaining to this topic. Information will be
reviewed and analysed from the trustworthy and untamed
sources to get the basic idea about the topic and to understand
the possible ways to present the thoughts. Discussion with the
faculty will be done to identify various sources of information, the
best possible ways to follow for research, and to make it correct
and authentic.
The searching of the literature over the topic starts with the
Central library, JAGANNATH UNIVERSITY. From the library various
books and journals are identified. This gives me the raw data as
an collection from trusted source. This process also helps me to
decide the various objectives of the research.

Data collection:
The literature material will be collected in various forms of books,
E-Books, Research papers, Journal, Reports etc. This collected
material will be divided into groups to fulfil the requirement of the
objectives. Further the material will be divided into sub groups for
easy management of the literature. This exercise will be helpful to
check whether the available information is sufficient or not.

1.4.4 Data study:

The collected data will be analysed on the basis of various
researches, case studies done before over the topic. The collected
information would be run thoroughly under the faculty's guidance.
Further results would be followed by the complete understanding
and research. To further check the correctness of the analysis
various examples will be studied and compared with the given
context.
