Qu es la Termodinmica?

Ahora nos es claro que existen tres tipos de intercambios de
energa entre un sistema y sus alrededores:
1.- interacciones de trabajo
2.- interacciones de calor
3.- intercambio de energa debido a la entrada o
salida de materia.
Thermodynamics is the science that deals with heat and work and those properties
of substances that bear a relation to heat and work. As with all sciences, the basis of
thermodynamics is experimental observation. In thermodynamics these findings have been
formalized into certain basic laws, which are known as the first, second, and third laws of
thermodynamics. In addition to these laws, the zeroth law of thermodynamics, which in the
logical development of thermodynamics precedes the first law, has been set forth.
In the chapters that follow, we will present these laws and the thermodynamic
properties related to these laws and apply them to a number of representative examples. The
objective of the student should be to gain both a thorough understanding of the fundamentals
and an ability to apply them to thermodynamic problems. The examples and problems
further this twofold objective. It is not necessary for the student to memorize numerous
equations, for problems are best solved by the application of the definitions and laws of thermodynamics.
In this chapter, some concepts and definitions basic to thermodynamics are
presented.
La termodinmica es la ciencia que trata con calor y trabajo y las propiedades
de sustancias que se vinculen al calor y trabajo. Al igual que con todas las ciencias, la
base de
la termodinmica es la observacin experimental. En la termodinmica estos hallazgos
han sido
formalizado en ciertas leyes bsicas, que son conocidos como la primera, segunda y
tercera leyes de
termodinmica. Adems de estas leyes, la ley cero de la termodinmica, que en el
desarrollo lgico de la termodinmica precede a la primera ley, se ha establecido.
En los captulos que siguen, vamos a presentar estas leyes y la termodinmica
propiedades relacionadas con estas leyes y aplicarlas a una serie de ejemplos
representativos. los
objetivo de que el estudiante debe ser ganar tanto un conocimiento profundo de los
fundamentos
y la capacidad de aplicarlos a problemas termodinmicos. Los ejemplos y problemas
promover este doble objetivo. No es necesario que el estudiante a memorizar
numerosos
ecuaciones, para los problemas se resuelven mejor por la aplicacin de las definiciones
y leyes de la termodinmica.
En este captulo, algunos conceptos y definiciones bsicas de la termodinmica son
presentada.
The first law of thermodynamics states that during any cycle that a system undergoes, the
cyclic integral of the heat is equal to the cyclic integral of the work. The first law, however,
places no restrictions on the direction of flow of heat and work. A cycle in which a given
amount of heat is transferred from the system and an equal amount of work is done on the
system satisfies the first law just as well as a cycle in which the flows of heat and work
are reversed. However, we know from our experience that a proposed cycle that does not
violate the first law does not ensure that the cycle will actually occur. It is this kind of experimental
evidence that led to the formulation of the second law of thermodynamics.
Thus, a cycle will occur only if both the first and second laws of thermodynamics are
satisfied.
In its broader significance, the second law acknowledges that processes proceed in a
certain direction but not in the opposite direction. A hot cup of coffee cools by virtue of
heat transfer to the surroundings, but heat will not flow from the cooler surroundings to the
hotter cup of coffee. Gasoline is used as a car drives up a hill, but the fuel in the gasoline
tank cannot be restored to its original level when the car coasts down the hill. Such familiar
observations as these, and a host of others, are evidence of the validity of the second law of
thermodynamics.
In this chapter we consider the second law for a system undergoing a cycle, and in
the next two chapters we extend the principles to a system undergoing a change of state and
then to a control volume.
La primera ley de la termodinmica establece que durante cualquier ciclo que se
somete a un sistema, la
integral cclica del calor es igual a la integral cclica de la obra. La primera ley, sin
embargo,
no estableciendo restricciones a la direccin del flujo de calor y trabajo. Un ciclo en el
que un hecho
cantidad de calor se transfiere desde el sistema y una cantidad igual de trabajo se
realiza en el
sistema satisface la primera ley tan bien como un ciclo en el que los flujos de calor y
trabajo

termodinmica son
satisfecho.
En su significado ms amplio, la segunda ley reconoce que los procesos se desarrollan
de
cierta direccin pero no en la direccin opuesta. Una taza de caf caliente se enfra en
virtud de
la transferencia de calor a los alrededores, pero el calor no fluir desde el entorno ms
fras a la
ms caliente taza de caf. La gasolina se utiliza como un coche conduce hasta una
colina, pero el combustible en la gasolina
tanque no puede ser restaurado a su nivel original cuando el coche gira por inercia
hasta la colina. tan familiar

segunda ley de la
termodinmica.
En este captulo se considera la segunda ley para un sistema de someterse a un ciclo, y
en
los prximos dos captulos que se extienden los principios de un sistema de someterse
a un cambio de estado y
a continuacin, a un volumen de control.
