    This study examined the effect of an anger management self-help group intervention on decreasing angry responses in patients with schizophrenia at the RSJ Menur Psychiatric Hospital. The study involved 40 schizophrenia patients with a history of violent behavior, randomized into a treatment group that received 5 sessions of the intervention and a control group. Results found the intervention significantly decreased emotional and cognitive responses after treatment, but did not significantly impact social or behavioral responses. The anger management self-help group was effective at lowering emotional and cognitive responses related to anger, but did not significantly reduce social or behavioral responses in these schizophrenia patients with violent tendencies. Further research is needed to study the intervention's effectiveness with acute psychiatric patients exhibiting violent behavior.

    EFFECT ANGER MANAGEMENT-SELF-HELP GROUP INTERVENTION TO


    DECREASE ANGRY RESPONSE IN PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA IN MENUR
    PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL

    The high rate of recurrence of the problem of violent behavior caused by uncondusive
    environmental, irregularity in taking the drugs and the client's inability to think clearly. Self Help
    Group is an alternative solution to client with violent behavior. The purpose of this study was to
    determine the effect of Anger Management Intervention-Self Help Group in Patients With
    Schizophrenia In RSJ Menur.
    The research design was quasi experiment: nonrandomized pretest posttest control group
    design. The study population was patients with schizophrenia with violent behavior as many as
    40 people. A sample size of 20 respondents (10 respondents 10 respondents treatment group and
    control group). interventions performed a total of five sessions. Collecting data using
    questionnaires. The analysis was conducted to see the response of emotional, cognitive,
    behavioral and social between the before and after intervention and compared between the
    control group and the treatment group. Analysis using Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon at
    significance level of 5% ( = 0.05).
    The results showed significant effect significant difference emotional response after a
    given intervention (p = 0.005), significant differences respon cognitive after a given intervention
    (p = 0.011), there are no differences in behavioral responses significantly after being given the
    intervention (p = 0.087 ) and social responses showed a significant difference given the
    intervention (p = 0.009) but no significant difference between the control group and the
    treatment group. ,
    The conclusion of this study is the Anger Management Intervention-Self Help Group
    significantly lowering the emotional and cognitive response but not significantly lowering the
    social and behavioral responses in patients with violent behavior in RSJ Menur. Further studies
    in patients with violent behavior with acute patient criteria for the effectiveness of interventions
    to be done in a psychiatric hospital
