Bit:
17 -in. FC519
Location:
South China Sea
Challenge: Achieve a higher ROP and reduce number
of trips as compared with roller cone bit
performance.
Results: The 17 -in. FC519 bit completed the
section in one single run, saving one trip
and drilling 70% faster than the previous
two roller cone bits.
Cost Benefit: The average cost per foot for the run was
34% less than the offset, which saved
the operator $1M in drilling cost.

Bit:
12 -in. FC519
Location: Remolino Field, Poza Rica, Mexico
Challenge: Drill the entire section at minimum 30 m/hr
and be able to run the bit in a second well.
Results: The 12 -in. FC519 bit was the first Triton
run in the field. It drilled the entire section
to TD at 38.8 m/hr with no cutter damage.
The FC519 drilled 196 m or 23% further
with 63% higher ROP than offset wells.
Cost Benefit: The run saved the operator $31,500 as
compared with the average performance.
