Advancing Reservoir Performance

Hughes Christensen
Triton
PDC bits
Field-proven, cost-effective technology
Triton PDC bits deliver the performance you need at the price you
demand. This is the dependable, low-priced solution. The time-tested
performance delivers a quality borehole.

High penetration rates

Engineered cutter placement offers the required aggressiveness and
durability to reach the necessary ROP with minimal cutter damage.

Quality borehole
Tungsten carbide inserts in the gauge protect hole quality.

Reduced vibration
Stable drilling enables Triton cutters to retain their initial, sharp edge for
longer life.

Maximized cuttings removal

Computational fluid dynamics ensures maximized cuttings removal and
cutter cooling while limiting bit erosion.

Drill bit value leader

Dependable performance
Quality borehole
Competitively priced

Wide range of applications

Triton PDC bits feature a wide range of blade counts and cutter sizes
depending on the application.

Bit:
17 -in. FC519
Location:
South China Sea
Challenge: Achieve a higher ROP and reduce number
of trips as compared with roller cone bit
performance.
Results: The 17 -in. FC519 bit completed the
section in one single run, saving one trip
and drilling 70% faster than the previous
two roller cone bits.
Cost Benefit: The average cost per foot for the run was
34% less than the offset, which saved
the operator $1M in drilling cost.

Bit:
12 -in. FC519
Location: Remolino Field, Poza Rica, Mexico
Challenge: Drill the entire section at minimum 30 m/hr
and be able to run the bit in a second well.
Results: The 12 -in. FC519 bit was the first Triton
run in the field. It drilled the entire section
to TD at 38.8 m/hr with no cutter damage.
The FC519 drilled 196 m or 23% further
with 63% higher ROP than offset wells.
Cost Benefit: The run saved the operator $31,500 as
compared with the average performance.

Triton bit sets an ROP record in China

and saves the operator $81,000
Bit:
12 -in. FC519
Location: Shaya County, Xinjiang Autonomous
Region, China
Challenge: Increase ROP and footage compared
with offsets.
Results: The 12 -in. FC519 bit set an ROP record
in the central part of the Tarim field. ROP
increased 84% over the average field
performance, whereas ROP increased
105% and footage increased 66% over
the closest offset well.
Cost benefit: Drilling cost savings for the operator
was $81,000, based on a rig rate of
$28K per day.
